I can’t sit quietly and watch people overdose on heroin anymore. The message being sent out is that Suboxone is the new miracle drug to end their addiction. But, this is not recovery.
Recovery is not simply avoiding criminal behavior and maintaining a job. Recovery is finding a spiritual way of life.
The true meaning of recovery is to walk humbly under the grace of God and to serve our fellow man.
Someone is misinforming addicts that 12-step programs work for alcoholics but not for addicts.
The medical community has been searching for the magic pill for over 80 years. Every few years they think they have found the answer, only to discover that the treatment can’t be sold — it has to be freely passed on.
Suboxone is a very lucrative drug both on the street and in the pharmacy. It is one of, if not the most, abused drug for addicts right now. Once an addict is on it, there is no reason to get them off.
People make money off of it, indefinitely.
Maybe Nancy Reagan was right. Just say “No.” No to all mind-altering chemicals.
Doctors are prescribing sleeping medication, anxiety medication and anti-depressants to nearly every new person in recovery. Of course you are depressed when you first put down the drugs. For the vast majority of addicts, this will go away with time. You can’t sleep when you first get clean. This is because you have been knocking yourself out for a long time. This, too, will dissipate with time.
They told me wait two years and if symptoms persist, see a professional. Otherwise feel the pain and then the relief.
Every day, I hear people in recovery say their life is second to none, but I have yet to hear someone on Suboxone or Methadone makes this statement.
