SHELBURNE FALLS — Want to turn plastic bags and food wrappers into “eco-art” purses, or convert old wooden furniture into artwork?

The Art Garden is offering a “Multi-Age Multi-Week” with guest artist workshops from Monday, Aug. 1, to Friday, Aug. 5. Those interested need to enroll to make the scheduled classes possible.

Those ages 7 and older are welcome to enroll for single or multiple workshops, or for the full week’s program. Most single workshops are $35, or $55 if a parent and child do them together.

On Monday, from 9 to 11 a.m., Lou Leelyn of Lou’s Upcycles will show participants how to “up-cycle” plastic, transforming it through heat and fusion into pouches, wallets, eyeglass cases and many other objects. Each participant will come away with a final project.

On Tuesday, mosaic artist Christine Kenneally will guide students in making mosaic stepping stones with found objects, glass tiles and cement. This workshop ($75) runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with students to take home their stepping stones later in the week.

Wednesday’s class is mandala-making, with artist Emily Gopen, from 9 to 11 a.m.

On Thursday morning, 9 to 11, cartoonist Suzanne Conway demonstrates her cartoon style and guides students in making fast, whimsical drawings.

The Art Garden is at 14 Depot St., next to the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum. For more information, call 413-625-ART2 or email: CSArtgarden@gmail.com
