BERNARDSTON — The Bernardston Board of Selectmen accepted a bid to refinish the Town Hall’s hardwood floors during a meeting last Wednesday.
D&D Beckwith Hardwood, a flooring store in Gill, will complete the project for $4,200 and apply three coats of finish. By using only three coats instead of four, the town will save $1,600.
BERNARDSTON — Because of problems with their internet connection, the Bernardston Board of Selectmen and Town Coordinator Hugh Campbell are considering a new internet provider for town hall.
The board discussed potentially switching from Crocker to Comcast, but raised concerns over how to afford higher internet costs. The board recommended Campbell reach out to town coordinators in surrounding towns to see what provider they rely on.
Campbell said he also wants to look into employing an information technology technician to assist with future problems, if the necessary funds could be found.
BERNARDSTON — Cushman Library is hosting a free concert by the pond featuring Appalachian Still, an acoustic string band out of Northampton, on Friday, starting at 7 p.m.
Appalachian Still plays high-energy Americana that combines old-time mountain music with bluegrass, rock and folk, according to a Cushman Library press release. The band draws from a repertoire of traditional tunes, original material and covers, and incorporates many modern influences like The Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Grateful Dead, Norman Blake and The Avett Brothers.
The event is funded by the Bernardston Cultural Council and the Friends of Cushman Library.
Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners. Should it rain, the concert will be held inside the library.
