11:07 a.m. — Caller requests police check the welfare of a person in a black Volvo parked at the Post Office on Main Street; officer found all was OK as the subject was taking a nap.
12:05 p.m. — Caller from Forbes Court requests an officer to call her back; the officer then called, and let her vent; statements about history; the officer requested she follow up with Clinical and Support Options.
3:17 p.m. — Officer to serve a warrant on Riverside Drive, but found no one at home at this time; but as the officers were leaving the area, the mother of the subject flagged us down, and the 14-year-old juvenile was arrested on a violation of probation warrant.
3:21 p.m. — Caller from Conway Street reporting a neighbor, seen by his tenant, going in and out of his garage, taking items; same is en route back to the house and will be there in less than five minutes; officer spoke with an involved male; nothing was missing from the property, the male just borrowed and returned a hammer.
3:42 p.m. — Illegal dumping reported by a caller at Big Y Foods on the Mohawk Trail, where a woman in a small green sedan took a cardboard box full of trash, out of her vehicle, put it in front of her car, and then left; license plate taken; management was notified, and they advised they would remove the trash; nothing more needed.
3:52 p.m. — Caller reports feeling suicidal at Miles Street apartments, and had a plan to cut his wrists with a knife; he has access to a knife, but doesn’t have a knife on his person; the reporting person agreed to meet officers outside per the officer’s request; the subject was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, and a Section 12 process was issued.
5:44 p.m. — Accident on Federal Street near Walgreens, two vehicles involved, with airbag deployment and fluids in the roadway; officers and Fire Department responded; found a rear-end collision, the first vehicle was removed by tow from the intersection and the second vehicle drove away from the scene safely; all vehicle occupants refused transport by Medcare; citation issued to the first vehicle operator for failure to use care in stopping.
6:53 p.m. — Larceny reported at B.J.’s Wholesale Club on Colrain Road where the reporting person says her cell phone was stolen out of her shopping cart while she was at the store; estimated time from of 3:15 to 3:30 today; the reporting person later received a phone call from someone claiming to have just purchased her cell phone from someone for $100; no answer on call back, left a message.
8:04 p.m. — Traffic stop on Phillips Street where investigation leads to arrest of Richard W. Bukowski Jr., 59, of West Street, Greenfield, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, second offense, and speeding.
9:55 p.m. — Report of threats being made at McDonald’s on the Mohawk Trail where the first caller reports people are outside of vehicles in front of the restaurant and one person could be heard yelling that they had a gun; second caller didn’t report hearing any threats but did see an altercation between people following a motor vehicle accident; first caller observed a white vehicle, second caller observed a red vehicle, and both callers advised the vehicles left the area going toward the rotary, but didn’t see them get on a ramp; an officer handled the call, and checked the area for vehicles matching the descriptions, but nothing found.
11:38 a.m. — Caller from area of Food City parking lot on Avenue A reports a woman just dropped off some items in the parking area and took off; the reporting person isn’t sure if they are someone’s belongings or not; officer has the items and will be checking the area for the vehicle.
1:25 p.m. — The reporting person states that her downstairs neighbors are smoking marijuana, and advised they are in the basement, and the smell is always coming up through her apartment; officer spoke to the reporting person by phone, and advised her to contact the landlord, and the neighbors, and if necessary, to contact the Board of Health.
3:42 p.m. — Fire alarm sounding from the Crocker Building on Avenue A, as a general alarm; officer advised; Turners Falls Fire Department responded, and advised that a child pulled the fire alarm inside the Creemee, and will be clearing shortly; no further assistance needed; officer was advised.
4:13 p.m. — Reporting person from Stevens Street came into the lobby reporting harassing phone calls; the reporting person stated a male, unknown who it might be, is calling from a restricted phone number and is threatening to come to the reporting person’s house and castrate him; the reporting person was advised the call would be on record, and if anyone shows up at his residence to call police or 911 right away, so an officer can respond, and suggested the reporting person check with the phone company about the number, as they may be able to block it.
7:10 p.m. — Hit-and-run accident reported from Grove Street where the reporting person advises her vehicle has been parked at this location all day, and she was just leaving and noticed a large scrape along the side; she requested an officer view the damage to have on record; officer responded, and investigation leads to locating a female operator driving with a learner’s permit and did have a licensed driver with her; she later called the officer. Situation investigated.
9:35 p.m. — Motor vehicle violation stop and issued a verbal warning to the operator for a crosswalk violation; the people involved advised the cruiser’s headlights caused them to not see people in the crosswalk.
1:35 a.m. — Officers leaving one location witnesses a physical altercation on West Main Street between two males, and officers also observed 8 to 10 people standing around the two involved; the officer spoke with those involved which they admitted to both being at fault; they were released, but told that they will be summoned criminally for their actions; the 25-year-old from Orange, and the 36-year-old from Athol will be charged with disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, and assault and battery.
9:24 a.m. — Larceny reported on South Shore Drive where Control called to say the reporting person would like an officer as a yellow cart was stolen from his yard Friday night; after speaking with the caller, the area was checked and the cart was found at his neighbor’s house, as it was used to carry fire wood; no further action taken.
6:02 p.m. — Caller from Battle Street reporting he just arrived home, and found there is a chair at his back window; the reporting person is unsure if anyone is inside the home; officer sent and on arrival the home was searched and no one is inside; it didn’t appear that a breaking and entering, was attempted.
7:02 p.m. — Caller from King Street reports there are two people at an address there taking apart multiple bicycles in their yard; as multiple bicycles have been stolen from the south side of town over the course of two weeks, the reporting person thought it was suspicious; officer went and spoke with those involved and they said they own a scrap business and acquired the bicycles from three residences in Athol today; the officer was able to make contact with all three residences in Athol, and they confirmed what was said about the bicycles.
1:19 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Sunrise Avenue where the reporting person states her windows are open and she can hear a banging almost like a hammer, outside, across the street from the neighbor’s house; everything is all dark outside and she is unsure if someone is trying to break in, and described the house across from her; on the first call officer thought the call was referring to one Sunrise Avenue location, and did locate an ajar front door, but when the officer spoke with the resident she stated that due to water damage, the door is unable to close, and she is unaware of a banging noise in the area; officer then located the reporting person who pointed to another house on Sunrise Avenue, and the officer heard the banging coming from the garage; officer located a male, who was repairing the garage door.
1:49 a.m. — Officer on patrol located two people sitting under the overhang behind the Franklin Regional Transit Authority building on Olive Street; the two were identified, and both said the male was just charging his phone for 20-minutes, and were going to be on their way; they were advised and moved along.
6:55 a.m. — Caller from Conway Street would like an officer to assist him in retrieving his charger for his bracelet. No action required.
8:59 a.m.— Burglar alarm sounding at a James Street residence; officers found the resident was sleeping and had to be advised of the alarm. False alarm.
6:56 a.m. — Walk-in person reporting that both her and her husband’s debit card received a fraud alert from Visa; the card has canceled immediately and a new one was issued; the next day they noticed a charge of $403 on the card that occurred on July 6, 2016 in Coconut Creek. Fla.; officer spoke with the reporting person in the lobby, and a report was taken.
