GREENFIELD — Franklin First Federal Credit Union has appointed Michelle Dwyer as its chief executive officer/president.

Dwyer, who has been with the credit union since 2007, replaces retiring CEO/President Martha Richardson, who leaves Franklin First after 32 years of service.

Richardson said she is retiring with confidence that the bank will be led by an energetic, capable new CEO.

Franklin First Board of Directors Chair Karen Herzog said, “We thank Martha for her many years of dedicated service to the Credit Union and welcome Michelle to her new role. We are delighted to have someone with Michelle’s insights and knowledge of Franklin First and its members. We look forward to her leading the Franklin First team to continued growth and many years of service to our loyal members.”

Dwyer was raised in Greenfield, graduated from Greenfield High School in 2000, and then earned an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Greenfield Community College.

She began at Franklin First in 2007 as a teller, was promoted to lead teller, and then to accounting specialist in March 2013.

Dwyer received the Credit Union Rising Star award in 2012, earning a designation as a certified credit union executive from Credit Union National Association and the University of Wisconsin School of Business in 2013. She received a designation as a credit union compliance expert in 2014.

A resident of Greenfield, Dwyer’s community service activities include serving as Relay For Life team captain for Franklin First from 2012 to 2014, and as a volunteer at Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter in Turners Falls since 2013. She has also served on the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter board of directors for the last two years.
