Tyreece Younger fired a one-hit shutout to lead Greenfield Post 81 to a 12-0 whitewash of Longmeadow in the Massachusetts District 2/3 Junior American Legion Baseball Playoffs Tuesday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Greenfield.
Younger, who only allowed a fourth-inning infield single, registered three strikeouts and one walk in the complete-game gem.
Post 81 scored twice in the first inning, once in the third and broke it open with a seven-run fourth. Tyler Townsley ripped a two-run double and Tionne Brown, back down from his Senior Legion playoff heroics Monday night, smacked a two-run single during the decisive rally.
Greenfield invoked the mercy rule by scoring two more runs in the fifth.
Townsley led Post 81 with three hits and three RBIs. Brown added two hits and two RBIs, Owen MacPhee had two hits and Ben Arnold (RBI), Eliot Mousseau and Owen Phelps all singled.
Greenfield advances to face Wilbraham Thursday at Farrell Field in Wilbraham at a time to be announced (either 5:30 or 7:30).
Peoples 2, Teddy Bear 0 — Peoples Bank clinched at least a tie for the Tri-County League title with a 2-0 win over Teddy Bear Pools Tuesday night at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke.
Bob Hamel scattered six hits and one walk while striking out six to earn the complete-game shutout.
Peoples (17-1) got a run in the third when Ryan Franczek and Dave Clark walked with two outs and Ted Lerud ripped an RBI single. They added an insurance run in the fifth when Joe Ferry singled, went to third on Tommy Bouvier’s base hit and scored on a dropped popup.
Lerud finished with tree hits and Ferry added two for Peoples.
Seth Leslie singled a doubled for Teddy Bear, which advanced runners to third on three different occasions but was unable to push one across.
Brad Bean, Liam Datres de la Blotier, Brody Markol and Billy Barrington had the other hits.
Ben Ruddock fanned six, walked two and gave up seven hits in the hard-luck loss.
Teddy Bear (9-8-1) travels to Thorndike Friday to take on St. Joseph’s at 7:30 p.m.
Greenfield 10U wins big
Ryan Pulizari belted two doubles and drove in five runs to help Greenfield roll to a four-inning, 23-3 win over Ross Insurance of Holyoke in the 10-and-under division of the Belchertown Mini Fenway Tournament Monday night.
Brodie Gagne and Jake Petrin had three hits and three RBIs apiece, while Dylan Archer added two hits and three RBIs.
Gagne, Jake Petrin and George Mercorelli combined on a one-hitter on the mound.
Greenfield faces Southampton tonight at 6.
Suburban 14U
Aly Murphy went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to power Turners Falls to a 17-7 victory over Greenfield in a Suburban Softball League 14-and-under game Tuesday night at the Bourdeau Fields Complex in Turners Falls.
Murphy, who also earned the pitching in win in relief, and Jade Tyler combined on a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
Mercedes Morales collected two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, Taylor Murphy doubled and knocked in a run, Tyler added a double and Eliza Johnson singled.
Steph Scoville struck out seven in the loss. She also had the only Greenfield hit, a double, and drove in two runs.
• Elsewhere, Frontier got a contributions from a host of players in a 13-8 win over West Springfield at Mitteneague Park in West Springfield.
Haley Bigwood led the hit parade with a single, triple and two RBIs, while Haley Zabko added a single, double and two RBIs.
Gabby Palmisano, Mandy Fuller and winning pitcher Katherine Hioe all singled and drove in two runs. Ali Markowski and Maegan Quinlan finished with two hits each and Natalie Denkiewicz contributed a single and an RBI.

Jake Coburn went 4-for-4 to lead Brad’s Place to a 15-6 Greenfield Co-Rec Softball League won over Hubie’s Tavern & Restaurant Tuesday evening at Hillside Park.
Nick Greene added a home run for Brad’s.
Todd Wiles clubbed three hits, Chris Arsenault singled, homered and drove in two runs, and Katie Newell added one hit for Hubie’s.
• At Montague Center Field, Turners Falls Pizza House bested Montague Elks Lodge, 15-11.
Sean Haskins went 4-for-5 with two homers and Donna Lee Bettencourt added three hits for the Pizza House.
John Dawicki and Caitlin Millett both had three hits for Montgaue Elks.

Jenny Dawson went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Colrain Misfits past the Buckland Brew Crew, 4-0, in a Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League game Tuesday night in Colrain.
Morgan Dodge played well defensively for Colrain.
Carrie Shea led the Brew Crew with two hits.

Matt Betsold carded a 38 to claim low gross in the Matt’s Men’s Golf League Tuesday at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Justin Fox posted a low-net 27.
Alfie Mitchell was closest to the pin on No. 7 (6 feet) and Jeff Miller was closest on No. 9 (29-4).
Fox and John Gustine recorded a league-high 5½ points on the night and now lead the second-half standings with 9 points.

Ben Herk and Matt Deane partnered for a low gross score of 37 in the Erving Golf League Tuesday at Northfield Golf Club.
Marty Adams and John Hodgman claimed low net at 26.
Matt Deane was closest to the pin on No. 6 (22-6). Jack Letourneau was closest on No. 7 (13-0).

Phyllis Canon carded an 83 for low gross in the First Division of the Country Club of Greenfield Ladies 18-hole Golf League Tuesday morning.
Barb Killeen posted the low-net score of 64.
In the Second Division, Anne McHugh shot an 87 for low gross and Maureen Barclay had a 71 for low net.
DRIVE boys’ varsity
Tucker Llewelyn netted 19 points to help Whitney Fence defeat Lundgren Honda, 62-34, in a DRIVE Hoops Boys’ Varsity League game Monday night at Messer Gymnasium in Northfield.
Jake Hill added 16 points for Whitney.
Colin Gould scored 11 and Joel Farrick 10 for Lundgren.
• Elsewhere, Greenfield overwhelmed the Warriors, 68-27, behind 27 points from Ray Embry and 15 from Connor Joy.

• In Boys’ Varsity games at Reed Gymnasium in Hadley, Zach Christafori dumped in 23 to lead Easthampton over Hadley, 66-54; Hampshire received 19 from John Pelligrini in a 71-64 win over Belchertown; and Joe Desormier’s 23 helped Granby beat Hatfield, 55-43.
