Montague, June 30

9:18 p.m. — Caller from area of Carroll’s Market on East Main Street in Millers Falls where the reporting person was calling on behalf of a girlfriend who just had $200 taken from her in front of this location; the reporting person is currently with the girlfriend and a male, known to them, took the money and is now hiding in the woods; the reporting person and the girlfriend are sitting in a vehicle parked on the side of the road where the male was last seen; they agreed to come to the station to fill out a statement form; the male will then be summoned.

Greenfield, July 1

12:10 a.m. — Officer located people on the stage at the Energy Park, on Miles Street; there were five people in the park, and they were advised, and moved along.

3:47 a.m. — Caller from Elm and Conway streets where the caller says a group of five to 10 kids are on skateboards and making a lot of noise; officer located the youths, on their way, on foot, to Leyden Woods; they were ID’d and sent on their way.

Montague, July 1

6:48 a.m. — A 911 caller reporting he witnessed a red Blazer hit a deer on Route 63, in the area of South Street or Center Street; the Blazer continued southbound and stopped a mile down the road to check damage; the reporting person states the vehicle had significant damage to the right front end, and the vehicle continued southbound; the deer is in woods after being struck. The operator of the involved vehicle then called in to advise she was currently at her job in Sunderland, and advised the person this would be on record, but if she wanted an officer to view the damage, that she would need to come back to Montage Police Department; it was strongly suggested to the reporting person that if anything like this occurs in the future, to contact 911 when it happens. Officer checked the area of the accident, but the deer was not located.

8:51 a.m. — Reporting person from Sunrise Terrace reports a fox, that came through her yard, appeared sick; the reporting person advised it crossed Montague Street and into the yard of a white house; ACO was advised, and he came and checked the area, but was unable to locate the animal.

Orange, July 3

12:30 a.m. — Officer stopped to check on a parked and running vehicle that was occupied in the front of the vehicle, where the officer found two children in the car without seat belts; the operator was advised and the officer put both children in booster seats and seat belts.

2:16 a.m. — Officer stopped a vehicle for defective equipment, a plate light, and a seat belt violation, and another person with possession of marijuana under an ounce; the operator was given a verbal warning for the defective equipment; a passenger was issued a verbal warning for seat belt violation; and the passenger was issued a verbal warning for both seat belt violation and the possession of marijuana; the substance was confiscated and placed into evidence for destruction.

9:12 p.m. — After several calls for fireworks in various areas, Control reports neighbors are setting off fireworks on North Main Street, and officer found the man setting them off and he was advised to cease, and he said he would as a neighbor had already come by and asked him to do so already.

9:39 p.m. — Accident with injury reported on Holtshire Road from where Control got a report of a motorcycle accident; report filed, but no details on the log.

Greenfield, July 4

12:19 a.m. — Disturbance on Conway Street where a 911 caller spoke of a male yelling in the front of this location; officers sent and found it to be a simple assault and battery in the past with the current boyfriend and the child’s father with the female; situation was calmed and the people were sent on their way.

5:52 a.m. — Accident off the southbound of Interstate 91 onto the Mohawk Trail where an officer was out with a vehicle that had significant damage; the driver states he may have struck a reflector while driving southbound on 91, north of Exit 26; the driver states it is possible it happened between Exits 26 and 25; the driver remembers exiting the highway after the crash and then got back on the highway; driver unsure of exact location of the crash; officer reports damage to the driver’s side, front end, windshield, windows all around the car, and the vehicle; treatment was offered but refused; state police then called to report some tree damage southbound on 91 just before Exit 25 in Deerfield; they will respond to the Mobile station in Greenfield; accident found to have happened in Deerfield, and state police will handle.

8 a.m. — Report of a large branch in the roadway on Lampblack Road; the branch was removed.

10:06 a.m. — Disturbance reported on Eunice Williams Drive where the caller reports there are about 50 people at the pumping station and at least 25 cars are parked along side of the road and the people are causing a disturbance; officers checked this area a couple of times throughout the shift; no problems noticed; families picnicking, laying in the sun and under tent (to prevent sun burn) and children playing ball and cooling off from the hot weather in the river; cars were parked orderly, no loud noise heard.

10:39 a.m. — Report of a male and female having a loud argument at the Registry of Motor Vehicles lot on Miner Street; the couple left before officer’s arrival.

12:54 p.m. — Larceny reported at Miles Street Hotel apartments where the reporting person states that a woman, who has been staying with him, he believes stole a steak knife; the caller doesn’t want to press charges; the female was described as a skinny girl who prostitutes, may have taken it; she goes by the name Judith.

1:36 p.m. — A man with a motorized wheelchair is requesting help near the Comcast office on the Mohawk Trail as his wheelchair has died and he can’t walk; no one available from Triad to assist with the wheelchair; officer providing a courtesy transport to the man’s home.

4:31 p.m. — Caller from Chapman Street out walking her dog found some fireworks still in the package, and she would like an officer to pick them up; officer located the unopened “Jumbo Crackling Balls,” to be disposed of.

6:11 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Main Street by Swift Cleaners who reports someone placed a Gatorade bottle outside across the street which then exploded and smoked; police and Fire Department responded; Eversource was notified and said it was possible issue with underground wires there; Fire Department covered until Eversource arrived.

6:51 p.m. — Accident with injuries reported near Big Y Foods on the Mohawk Trail; two people taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, third Medcare unit requested; vehicles towed, but the intersection had to be closed until the cars were moved.

7:31 p.m. — Officer serving a warrant on a person near Rite Aide on Main Street. Arrested was Lee R. Tanguay, 27, of Riverside Drive, Greenfield, on the warrant.

9:10 p.m. — Fireworks being set off at Pine Ridge Estates on Standish Court where the reporting person states four or five people have been setting them off for the past 30 minutes; officer responded but no activity in the area.

9:43 and 9:53 p.m. — Fireworks reported first at Forbes Court and then at Riverside Drive, but nothing found on arrival of police.

10:24 p.m. — Report of a hit and run by a woman at the police station where the female says her car was parked at the 99 Restaurant on Colrain Road, and a truck with a trailer hit and scraped her car; officer to check damage.

11:09 p.m. — Fireworks reported at the Energy Park on Miles Street. Officer responded and found a group of people on the stage, and they began running toward Bank Row as the officers arrived; contacted one male, intoxicated, laying down, sleeping, on the stage; with an open beer can; he was moved along, and will be summoned.

Montague, July 4

1:43 a.m. — Male caller from Fifth Street requests officers to remove one male and one female from his apartment; he states the male is his son who just won’t leave; officer responded and spoke with the son who stated no issue; he was invited in and had been yelled at since he got there; the son is leaving to go back to tent home in the Patch soon; son was asked to remain to speak with the officer en route; upon clearing, the son was packed and ready to leave, the reporting person was OK with the female staying, all was quiet and calm upon the officers arrival.

1:27 p.m. — Received two 911 calls reporting a rekindle at the Montague Center location of last night’s bonfire in the village there; first caller advised the fire is still relatively small and appears to have just rekindled; Shelburne Control and officer were advised.

4 p.m. — Caller from area of Family Dollar Store on Avenue A, reports an assault from the employee at this location, the female has since left the store and this happened about five minutes ago; the female stated the employee was throwing things at her and chased her to her car; the female was advised to call on the business line since she was now safe and not having an emergency; the female then came into the lobby with a witness to the report the same, and stated she didn’t know the person’s name, but could provide description; officer was advised and spoke to people in the station lobby and the reporting person isn’t wanting to press charges. Officer will now attempt to locate the employee, and then at Family Dollar, where the officer found the employee who said the reporting person was the aggressor.
