I read that some people survived the horrific Orlando massacre by hiding under the dead bodies of their friends. This was hard for me to read as it reminded me of the story my Dad told me of how he survived in the same way when Nazis massacred the Jews of his town in 1940.
What is not mentioned in newspapers is what happens to people after such events. My father suffered from horrible nightmares, regularly screaming in his sleep. His life was not a long one as the stress of post-traumatic disorder became too much for him when he was 54 years old.
Has not much changed in the intervening 76 years?
There is a saying “those who forget the past are condemned to repeat.” I would beg you all not to support anyone who fans the flames of hatred, whether against gays, Jews, Muslim, Hispanic people or whomever!
