Ryan Pulizari and Jake Petrin pitched well Friday night as Greenfield opened the Under-10 Cal Ripken State Baseball Tournament with a 12-10 win over Milford in Westminster.
Bryce Avery, Michael Pierce, Dylan Archer, Brodie Gagne, Matt Lavoine, George Mercorelli and Pulizari all had hits in the win. Nico Fasulo had a big day defensively in the outfield, Lavoine and Mercorelli were strong at the corner infield spots, and Kendra Campbell, Josh Wood and Ryan Guertin each contributed to the defensive effort.
Greenfield continues play in the tournament today at 11:30 a.m. against Hudson.
Hubie’s Mantle wins
Cam Lococco and Jacob Hubbard each had two hits and one RBI to lead Hubie’s Tavern & Restaurant over South Hadley, 11-5, in a Mickey Mantle Baseball League game Friday night at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.
Peyton Doherty doubled and drove in two runs for Hubie’s, and Sam Bobala doubled and plated one. Cody Letourneau had a pair of hits, and Hubbard pitched four strong innings of relief to earn the win.
Greenfield Co-Rec
Alan Mailloux went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs on Friday night and Beck’s Automotive smacked About Town Taxi, 19-6, in a Greenfield Co-Rec Adult Softball League game at Unity Park in Turners Falls.
Jenn Murphy went 4-for-4 with a double, Jay Sadler was 4-for-5 with a double and a homer, and Jeff Guy went 3-for-4 with a triple for Beck’s.
Jake Benedict finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple for About Town.
• In other action, Mike Cormie went 3-for-3 as Shelburne Falls Eagles beat Turners Falls Pizza House, 11-8.
Jeff Warner and Mariah Crossman each went 2-for-3 in the win.
Sean Haskins and Pete Bassett each finished 3-for-4 for TF Pizza.
• Also Friday, Stephanie Winslow went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs as Mesa Verde beat RG Penfield, 18-17, at Greenfield Middle School.
Joe Guidaboni went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Mike Cole collected two singles, a double and three RBIs, and Leanne Emond had two hits and two RBIs for Mesa Verde.
Ed Morely led RG Penfield by going 3-for-4 with a homer, Jeremy Benz went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, and Donna Tanner had two hits.
