12:36 p.m. — Caller from the Skate Park requests an officer and states a youth just tried to steal her son’s scooter; the reporting person was able to get the scooter back, but advised the youth is now harassing her; the people could be heard arguing in the background; the youth, about 12 to 13 years old; officers advised, and the officer spoke with the youth and found he was under the impression that he could use/take anything he saw laying around at the skate park; the youth was advised he can’t do that, and the officer will be contacting his mother to advise of the incident; the officer then spoke with the mother who said she would address the situation with her son.
1:54 p.m. — Walk-in reports a youth on a scooter is pulling another youth on a sheet of plywood on Montague Street; officer checked the area but with negative contact.
2:17. p.m. — A reporting person says he was just threatened by (named person) outside of Food City on Avenue A, and states the person made statements to the effect that he would beat up and kill the reporting person; the reporting person advised he recently testified against the subject, and the subject received probation, and a suspended sentence; the subject left the area and is now near the Carnegie Library; officers clear of Food City and will attempt to locate the other person.
2:45 p.m. — Caller from Peskeomskut Park on Avenue A reports a female just called her a “junkie,” but the reporting person is no longer at the park, while the other female is still there; the reporting person requests an officer to respond and advise the woman to cease all contact with the reporting person; the reporting person stated she didn’t know the woman and gave a description of an older white female, last seen wearing glasses and a light purple shirt; officer was advised.
7:22 p.m. — Shelburne control advised they took a call from a person on Central Street in Erving who reported seeing a plane that is possibly in trouble, and stated the plane sounded like the engine cut out, and it was stalling; the caller says it disappeared over the tree line; officer checked at the airport and the area, and no planes in distress were found.
12:10 a.m. — Neighborhood disturbance reported on East River Street where a person called about a loud disturbance coming from a building in the complex; officers located the disturbance and spoke with the people involved; they were instructed to stop arguing for the evening, and go to bed.
12:40 a.m. — Athol Police requested assistance with a motor vehicle stop on Daniel Shays Highway where the operator of the vehicle was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor; by request of Athol Police, Orange Police provided two passengers with a courtesy transport to their residence in Orange.
1 a.m. — Caller from Walnut Hill Road reports there is an underage drinking party in the Orange section of that road; all people had left or were gone before officers arrival.
2:05 a.m. — Report of erratic operation of a motor vehicle on West River Street where the caller says she witnessed the vehicle strike the driver’s side mirror to a parked vehicle; and then turned onto Briggs Street toward Lake Mattawa; officers searched the area and were unable to locate the vehicle, but did make contact with the owner of the vehicle that was struck and a report was taken.
8 a.m. — Caller from East River Street reports she is being harassed by another female; four days in a row she has come upon her at Pinecrest, and the other female berates the reporting person, calls her names, and threatens her; she was advised of harassment prevention orders through the court.
11 a.m. — Officer responded to the school on South Main street where a seventh grade student was being rude and non-compliant in the middle school office and to the staff; the student threatened staff members and punched a window; the student was sent home; charges are pending.
4 p.m. — Control advised of an ATV being driven up and down on Eagleville Road at a high rate of speed; officer located an individual at his residence with the ATV parked there; the officer advised him of the complaint, and he admitted to driving the ATV on the street; he was given a verbal warning for the violation, and the recreational vehicle laws were explained.
4:45 p.m. — Officer serving a juvenile warrant on East Main Street where the 17-year-old was arrested on the warrant.
6:04 p.m. — Caller advised Control that she just hit and killed a fox on East Main street; damage to her vehicle was found to be under $1,000. Orange Highway Department was advised of the deceased animal.
11:30 p.m. — While on patrol, an officer was advised by a resident that a window to a nearby business has been smashed; officers located the smashed window on the South Main Street side of the business, and they then made entry to the building, but no one found there; multiple attempts were made in order to contact the owner, and an officer finally made notification to their residence; at the owner’s request, officers screwed a piece of plywood over the broken window; the building was secured.
6:43 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported at Green River School on Meridian Street where the caller reports he found a magazine clip to a .177 caliber which was located behind the school; the reporting person states he is a custodian at the school and will be there for a while; officers en route.
8:50 a.m. — Request that police check the welfare of a person at this address as the reporting person states his brother has recently got out of the hospital and hasn’t been in a good frame of mind since; he has told the reporting person that if he ever doesn’t answer his phone, to send someone to check on him, because it means there is a problem; typically the reporting person talks to his brother several times a day, and hasn’t been able to reach him at all today, and hasn’t spoken to him since yesterday; the involved male was located, and was taken to the hospital.
10:51 a.m. — Request that police check on a person in area of the Mobil Station, near Route 91, where the reporting person states there is someone sleeping in the grassy area between the gas station and the rotary, and he has been there for several hours; officer spoke with the male who stated he was resting and would be moving along.
11:10 a.m. — Report of malicious destruction of property, at Dollar General on Federal Street, where the reporting person said the south side western most window was smashed sometime between 10:30 p.m. last night, and 6:45 a.m. this morning; officer inspected the window and found fresh broken glass, with about a one-inch diameter, hole, in a 2’ by 7” single pane, window glass.
11:29 a.m. — Accident reported on Spruce Street where a tractor trailer unit pulled a cable wire from the house there; officer found the tractor trailer unit took down non-power lines with some damage to the siding on the house; the officer spoke with the operator of the tractor trailer who wasn’t aware he took down some wires, but was on the street and did hear something strike the truck; the reporting person states the vehicle was the right one, and she has spoken with the office of the truck’s owner; officer assisted with information exchange.
12:03 a.m. — Officer assisting a citizen on Brookside Avenue at a brother and sister dispute about a vehicle; the male handed keys and loan book over to female; the male wanted the officer to witness this; the female left, and officer assisted with traffic.
12:42 p.m. — Accident with possible injuries at Federal and Stanley streets; officers and fire department sent, and fire department requests Medcare for one patient; found to be a three vehicle crash, and two vehicles towed; one operator cited for following too close.
4:25 p.m. — Officer to assist a walk-in who reports someone intentionally released her parrot; under investigation.
4:58 p.m. — Report of accident with injuries near the Stonleigh-Burnham School on Bernardston Road, three vehicles; fire department ambulance transporting one to Baystate Franklin Medical Center; all three vehicles were towed; citation and a warning issued.
5:41 p.m. — Larceny reported at Whitney Hill Antiques on Main Street where the caller says two valuable swords were stolen from his store at some point during the day; the person says two Masonic swords were taken from his consignment spot, and inscribed on the blade of each sword is, “Charles S. Hasty,” and officer investigating to follow up with surveillance footage tomorrow.
8:30 p.m. — Caller from area of Mills and Meade streets where the officer is investigating loud noises in the area and heard loud booms while waiting at the intersection of Mohawk Trail and Shelburne Road; the property owner, off in the woods behind his house, was firing a gun, but the officer was unable to locate; the property has about 13 acres of woods, no noise complaint from neighbors.
1:50 a.m. — Fire alarm sounding on Avenue A where the officer said he could hear the alarm on arrival, but is now silenced; Turners Falls Fire Department, is now on scene; and fire command reports cooking something set off the alarm, in the apartment; all units cleared.
8:11 a.m. — Control advised they got a call from Blodgett Street looking for an officer to respond, as the back window to their vehicle was broken sometime overnight; officer investigating, report taken.
3:30 p.m. — Caller from Memory Lane requesting an officer as her ex-boyfriend is refusing to return her house key; the two were able to come up with an agreement without issue; services rendered.
5:30 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street reports someone took the mirror off of her car while it was parked; officer found a small plastic piece had been broken off, but left on her windshield; she was advised to contact her insurance company in the morning as the damage was under $1,000.
12:37 a.m. — Caller from the Reed building on Franklin Street states there is a male passed out near a garbage can there; officer to investigate, and located a female, sleeping behind the building, and she was moved along.
10:04 a.m. — Caller from Oak Courts by a staff member who believes there is a firearm in a storm drain there, officers checking; found to be a plastic gun.
Midnight — Caller from School Street requesting a man be removed from his home; officer spoke to all people involved and the male subject agreed to go to bed for the night; peace was restored.
2:15 a.m. — Caller from Prentiss Street reports he can hear people from nearby, and what sounds like some loud noises; all was quiet on arrival of officer, but found the reporting person was complaining about teenagers that were lately knocking on their door, and running away, about the same time of day; officer advised he will search the area, and do extra patrols; but the subjects were unable to be located.
