WHATELY — Residents can expect a quiet annual town election this year, because there aren’t any contested positions on the ballot.
Elections will be held Tuesday at 4 Sandy Lane, the town offices, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
With the exception of Catherine O’Hara, who is officially running for a School Committee seat she was appointed to by the selectboard and School Committee, there are no new faces on the election ballot.
O’Hara has served on the School Commitee since she took over the position during the fall of 2015, after the seat was vacated.
On the election ballot this year, Moderator Richard Smith and Elector Under Oliver Smith Will Adelia Bardwell are both running for one-year term re-elections.
Lynn Sibley, who has served as town clerk since 1999, is running for re-election along with Katherine Fleuriel, who is running for town assessor, Quinton Dawson, for library trustee, Paul Fleuriel, Jr., for cemetery commissioner, and Michael Archbald, who is also running for re-election to the board of health.
To some officers, election season is a familiar time of year.
George Bucala Jr., town water commissioner, has served the town for more than 30 years. He is up for re-election.
Constables Thomas Mahar and Edwin Janiewski; and Selectboard member Jonathan Edwards are also running for re-election.
With the exception of Smith and Bardwell, all of the other positions on the ballot are for three-year terms.
