Orange, June 1

1:50 p.m. — Caller from Shelter Street reports two young adults just came out of the woods on dirt bikes, turned around on his property, and went back into the woods; he requests we try and locate them, and tell them to stay off his property; he will also post more no trespassing signs, and put up a trail camera; officer checked the area, but nothing found.

3:37 p.m. — Orange Fire Department is en route to investigate some sort of outside fire on Mechanic Street; on arrival it was found to be a brush pile started by a cigarette; fire department to handle.

5:35 p.m. — Orange Fire Department is reported to be en route to Russ Street for a smoke alarm activation, it was found to be burnt food.

5:56 p.m. — Control took a call from East Main Street about a snake behind the building from where the person was calling; the officer advised the caller to leave it alone and it will probably go on its way.

9:05 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street contends the downstairs tenant is smoking weed; on officer’s arrival the complaint was unfounded.

10:10 p.m. — Control reports the custodian has locked herself in her car after hearing a male voice inside the Dexter Street School yell, “Hey!” Officers checked the building as well as the surrounding area, but nothing found; officers remained while the custodian locked up for the night.

10:50 p.m. — General disturbance reported on Sandrah Drive, where the caller said they can hear the children yelling for help, officer arrived to make contact with all involved, and spoke with the children and determined that they were being loud because they didn’t want to go to bed; they were advised to go to bed, and to be quiet for the remainder of the evening. 

Greenfield, June 2 

Midnight — Caller from Conway Street near Call’s Corner states he heard a loud bang from the area of the store, and he states he saw a gun showing out of a silver car; he states the third person took off running immediately and is behind a Wells Street building; officer stopped a vehicle and the operator states this all happened 40 minutes ago; several others were contacted and each said the incident happened 40 to 45 minutes ago; no one found.

2:02 a.m. — Caller from area of Highland Park states a person, who was wearing all black clothing, with a backpack, was walking around the tennis courts area; gone on arrival of police.

6:16 a.m. — Report of a tree limb blocking three quarters of the Barton and Leyden roads intersection; the officer checking the report removed the hazard.

11:37 a.m. — Report of a past breaking and entering on Conway Street, where the caller says his son, “went in and stole my weed wacker.” Officer investigating, and services rendered.

11:52 a.m. — Larceny reported at Cumberland Farms on Federal Street, where the store manager reported an employee may have stolen a large sum of money; officer spoke with the manager and advised him of options; after the officer cleared, dispatch advised the reporting person wanted to speak again and the manager indicated that Cumberland Farms didn’t desire criminal charges against the person involved, and had other questions; same was advised again.

12:29 p.m. — Caller from Thomas and Thomas Fly Rods on Barton Road reports there is a power pole that may be down or leaning over the railroad tracks there; officer found a pole leaning toward the tracks, and the same pole has been leaning for a while.

1:06 p.m. — Accident at Conway and Allen streets, two vehicles involved, one person transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, two refusals signed; both vehicles were towed.

1:18 p.m. — Disturbance at Beacon Field, from, where dispatch received multiple calls of a fight at this location; officer spoke with one person known to police, who got struck by an unknown person after walking by him and called him an “ass—e.” That man had no visible injuries and didn’t want any police action taken. Another officer spoke with the second person, who reported similar facts, but that the first person had slapped the truck of the second person while walking by and telling him to mind his own business after he commented on the disrespectful conversation the first person had with his mother at this location; he reported he exited his truck and the first person assaulted him, and they went to the ground; no visible injuries, nor any reported; he too did not want criminal charges, and he was advised.

4:03 p.m. — Walk-in reporting a known male is forging checks at Home Depot, Greenfield Co-op and Aubuchon Hardware; officer will be forwarding this information to another officer.

5:52 p.m. — Request that police check the welfare of a person on Maple Street, where the caller says that a known person showed up to their program intoxicated, on a bicycle, and was brought home by staff members; they have since had a neighbor of his walk into their facility and report that the man was hanging out of his apartment window, naked, and yelling and screaming; a 911 caller reports that she was contacted by the Recover project to bring in a male at this address for detox; when she arrived on the scene, she knocked on the door, and found the male on the floor, naked, not making any sense; the caller believes he may need medical attention; and Medcare was contacted; the male was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center; the officer spoke to a female who will care for the cats; they filled up cat’s food, and filled a large mixing bowl of water.

6:10 p.m. — Caller from Abbott Street reports a young female outside the front yard, throwing stuff out of her car onto the lawn and she is yelling and screaming; she has a green car, believed to be Honda, and with the rear passenger side window smashed out, and is driving on Federal Street, going toward Main Street; officer found the female was returning property to this address, where she has been kicked out of, and did so by yelling and throwing the items on the lawn; officer was unable to locate the female or her vehicle.

10:32 p.m. — Unwanted person reported at the Village Shops on French King Highway; officers sent, and the person was removed and sent on his way.

11:37 p.m. — Suspicious activity near the former American Legion facility on Legion Avenue, where the officers found two known men who were sharing a beer in the parking lot; both were given a verbal warning for the town ordinance violation and they were moved along.

Montague, June 2

12:37 a.m. — Male 911 caller states his vehicle is missing from the parking area on Avenue A; and was last seen there about 8:30; officer en route and found the reporting person is intoxicated, and after digging further, the reporting person described lending the vehicle to his friend until morning; officer was able to contact the female and confirmed they were together earlier; officer advised the reporting person to call police back if the vehicle isn’t returned today.

8:20 a.m. — Safety hazard reported on Oakman Street, where the caller says a syringe is on the side of the road there; the item was retrieved by an officer.

Greenfield, June 3

12:59 a.m. — Suspicious activity reported at the Big Y Foods top lot on the Mohawk Trail, where the officer spoke to a male and female who had returned from swimming; they were moved along.

1:03 p.m. — Caller stated that while talking to his tenant about ongoing police calls, his tenant tackled him and placed him into a headlock. Police advised the man of his options pertaining to eviction and harassment orders. He is seeking charges.

4:10 p.m. — Two vehicles had tires slashed overnight at Cherry Rum Auto on Bernardston Road.

4:40 p.m. — Reports of car tires slashed overnight on Wildwood Avenue.

Orange, June 3

9:39 a.m. — Owner of Grrr Gear is looking for an officer as the front beam of the store was struck by a vehicle sometime overnight; officer to investigate, and report filed.

12:30 p.m. — Fraud reported from Wendell Depot that he has fallen victim to the “IRS scam,” and said he has purchased iTunes cards in an attempt to pay off his IRS debt; he was given the appropriate ID theft packet and advised to try to cancel the iTunes cards.

7:16 p.m. — Control reports a call from a reporting person on East Main Street regarding being called and threatened with a baseball bat; both units responded and it is under investigation.

8:30 p.m. — Loud noise disturbance on Center Drive from where control took a call reporting a loud explosion in the area; while an officer was checking the area, he heard another explosion, and checked the area for several minutes, but nothing was found.

8:55 p.m. — Officer on patrol was approached by a reporting person who said his car was gone through on East Main Street and he is missing some paperwork. Report filed.

9:10 p.m. — A walk-in at the station reports he just witnessed a truck hit the fire hydrant on East Main Street, and speed off toward Water Street; officer took the report and an investigation will follow.

Orange, June 4

1:50 a.m. — Loud noise disturbance at Lincoln Avenue and Mechanic Street, from where the reporting person says neighbors lit off fireworks at the corner; all was quiet on arrival; officer attempted to make contact with the parties involved, but was unsuccessful.

2:45 a.m. — General disturbance report on Cottage Street where the reporting person says a man was outside a residence there, screaming and throwing rocks, and causing a disturbance; officers were unable to locate the person involved, but they then went to another residence and made contact; the man was advised to go to sleep and to leave the calling person and his guests alone for the evening.

7:03 a.m. — Report that a vehicle was repossessed on West Main Street; description of the vehicle was blackened out on the log.

9:40 a.m. — Control advised that the fire department is responding to the area of Chase Court for a car fire; officers followed up and assisted the fire department.

10:35 a.m. — Caller informed Control that one of the vehicles was vandalized on North Main Street last night; on arrival four dents from a BB gun were found in the passenger side door; the reporting person was advised of security measures and that the incident will be on record.

12:28 p.m. — Caller from Prospect Street believes his registration plate was stolen during the night from the back of his vehicle; he was advised to come in and fill out a form for entry into the NCIC alerting system.

1:56 a.m. — Caller reports they got a call from someone claiming to be the IRS, and that there was a criminal law suit being filed, if money wasn’t paid; the caller knew it was a scam, and wanted it on the record.

7:55 p.m. — Control took a report from Fieldstone Drive regarding black bears that have been seen throughout the day; dispatch provided them with a phone number to the Environmental Police; and another caller says a few large bears had been in her yard over the course of the day, and control provided her with the contact number for the Environmental Police

8:44 p.m. — Caller says there is a hazard on Mechanic Street where wires are down; Orange Fire Department stood by for National Grid to work on the wires.

8:52 p.m. — Loud noise disturbance reported on East Road where caller reports from Ward Road, complaining of shots fired somewhere toward East Road; officer located fireworks being set off at a residence there and they were advised of the complaint, and to quiet down; they had let off what they had as the officer was arriving.

Greenfield, June 5

1:28 a.m. — Caller from area of Congress and Prospect streets where the caller says there is a 45-ish-year-old male with a head laceration; he says the male was laying down on the corner; he did say he saw the male moving, but the reporting person is requesting Medcare; officers arrived and Medcare came on scene, and the patient refused medical treatment; the male has a laceration to the eye, and the neighbors there took custody of him; officer learned the male was intoxicated, and fell and struck his head.

2:11 a.m. — Unknown problem at Mill and Laurel streets where the reporting person says a male is walking on the sidewalk, shouting obscenities, and walking into the roadway; an officer also stated the male is confrontational. While the officer was driving down River Street, the male stepped into the roadway screaming, “f*** you bitch ass pigs,” and he appeared to be intoxicated and carrying a large knife on his hip; officer attempted to reason with the involved male, but he was extremely confrontational and agitated; the male made mention that, “yeah, I’m armed,” and he appeared to be out looking for a fight; the situation was then calmed, and he was moved along.

10:29 a.m. — Caller reports a male causing a disturbance at the Living Waters Church on Davis Street extension; but he was gone on officers’ arrival; the man was then located near Swift Cleaners on Main Street; the known male admits he’s upset regarding some things people at the church were saying; he voiced his displeasure, and he was advised not to return to the church.
