9:50 a.m. — Caller requesting to speak with an officer because her ex husband keeps driving by her while she is walking on Brookside Road, and harassing her; officer advised her of options and the other person involved was contacted, and advised to leave her alone.
1:12 p.m. — Fraud reported from Congress Street, where the caller reports getting two calls this week from someone claiming to be with the IRS, and requesting a return phone call; today a message was left on the answering machine which said it was the final notice and a law suit would be filed; the caller knew it was a scam and didn’t return the call; the caller wanted it on record.
3:10 p.m. — Control advised the ambulance is responding to East Main Street for a male that was injured in a motorcycle crash that happened on New Athol Road; the male was transported to the hospital, and the motorcycle’s registration was found to be revoked, and uninsured; the plates were seized and a criminal complaint will be filed with Orange District Court for the violations.
6:14 p.m. — Caller from East River street states a male is putting jet ski’s in the water; on arrival, the officer found the man was testing the same to make sure they are water ready for next weekend; they never left the trailer.
8:10 p.m. — While stationary on East Main Street, both officers could see heavy smoke coming from the School Street area; found it to be a camp fire; Orange Fire Department arrived and spoke with the home owners.
10:15 p.m. — Control got a call from a railroad crew reporting two juveniles were playing chicken with the train at Water Street location; officer located two youths walking on East River Street and they claim that as they were going through the crossing, the lights started to flash, and the gate started to come down; they told the officer they finished crossing and then watched the train go by; one youth told the officer he was sleeping over at the other youth’s tonight, and they were transported to the home, where the mother of one of the youth’s confirmed the other youth is supposed to be sleeping over, and she will speak with the that youth’s mother tomorrow.
3:32 p.m. — Report of a disturbance on Allen Street, where the caller says she was driving over the bridge where she saw a female who appeared to be in distress, and on the other side of the bridge was a larger male who ran at the female, and “got in her face,” but the reporting person isn’t any longer at the scene, and just drove off; the male was described as wearing a tank top and having lots of tattoos, and the female is wearing shredded jeans; gone on arrival of police.
6:02 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported at the Lipton Inc, (Gulf station) on the Mohawk Trail, where the caller says a white male wearing red and white plaid shorts, with a blue plaid top, wearing a dark color hat, with sunglasses and a back pack with a white towel hanging out, was just in the rest room for about 30-minutes, and the same came out and yelled at the staff, and then returned to the restroom for about another 15 to 20 minutes; the caller says this male does this almost daily and is a known drug user; the caller says the staff have found evidence of drug use previous times; an officer found the man crossing the bridge, just before Solon Street, but no suspicious activity was located.
6:29 p.m. — Accident reported on Main Street near the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce office, with two vehicles involved but no injuries reported; minor damage report issued.
9:30 p.m. — Accident at Juniper Court, where a hit and run was reported; a Montague officer located the operator and vehicle that struck the damaged vehicle in Greenfield, and found only minor scratches to the vehicle; the operator of the vehicle was unaware that he struck anything; information was given to the other owner for exchange purposes, and officer observed minor damage to the bumper rear driver’s side.
6:49 p.m. — A bicyclist reports an alarm sounding on South Ferry Road, but he isn’t sure if the alarm is a fire alarm or burglar alarm, and nothing is showing and nothing appears out of place; officers unable to find a house with the number given by the caller; Montague Center Fire Department, is now on scene and advised the alarm is still sounding, and the fire department made entry into the house; officer attempted to make contact with the owner at his residence nearby, and both vehicles are in the driveway, but no answer at the door; the fire department found it to be a faulty detector and it was removed by them and a note left for the owner.
11:35 p.m. — Officer out at the Fourth Street alleyway for a verbal confrontation between a male and a female; the situation was discussed, and peace was restored.
7:55 a.m. — Control reports an alarm activation on East River Street showing as in the living room; it was reported to be on Cummings Drive, and the officer sent found no such lot number on that street, and found it was actually on Pennington Lane; while checking the residence the homeowner arrived, and it was determined the alarm had been set off by the dog inside; the resident will contact the alarm company, and correct the address.
9:01 a.m. — Reporting person came into the station to report he got the IRS scam call yesterday and called the number back but no one answered.
10:10 a.m. — While on a call that involved a male and a female fight, a woman outside was banging and pulling on the sliding glass door to the apartment; the woman stated that she knew that a male was inside; I told her the maintenance was being notified so entry could be gained; at the same time, the outside female pulled on the sliding glass door, and it came off the track, and the glass fell out; she then ran inside looking for him, but he wasn’t there; management was notified of the damage.
