SHELBURNE — An unsteady young fawn trying to cross Route 2 Wednesday morning got a lift from State Police in Shelburne, who were concerned the animal was either injured or still adjusting to its new legs. The fawn appeared to be only a few weeks old.

According to a Facebook posting by Massachusetts State Police, Sgt. Brian Gladu and trooper Shawn LeBlanc scooped up the fawn around 10 a.m. After speaking with a local veterinarian, they gave the fawn some food and released it in a safe area, where they hoped it will be reunited with its mother.
