HAWLEY — Hussain A. Hamdan is the town’s newest Selectboard member, after winning a race against fellow School Committee member, CourtneyAnn C. Hoyt, by a vote of 68 to 55.

Hamdan also serves on the Fire Department and is a member of the town Communications Committee.

About 47 percent of town voters, or 126 people, turned out to cast their ballots in Monday’s annual town election.

The following candidates were unopposed and won re-election to town offices: Board of Assessors Edward J. Brady; Moderator (one-year) Kirby “Lark” Thwing; Local Education Council for Hawlemont (nonparent member for three-year term) Suzanne S. Crawford; and Hawlemont School Committee member (three years) Hussain A. Hamdan.

Carla Clark, the incumbent town auditor, won re-election to her one-year term through a write-in campaign.
