ERVING — Voters will gather on Monday night at the annual town meeting to vote on a budget of roughly $9.7 million, an increase of about 7 percent.
The potential impact of the proposed budget would add about $72 to the tax bill for the average assessed home of about $150,000. Commercial properties would see an increase of $78 per $100,000 of assessed value, said Assistant Assessor Jacquelyn Boyden.
The total education budget is about $5 million, representing an increase of about $601,380.
The budget and the tax increase could fluctuate or decrease as funding from the state is finalized, said Boyden.
Among the free cash transfers that selectmen are proposing and the Finance Committee has recommended are $15,000 for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Veterans Field and $5,000 for new roofs on the bath house and shed building at Zilinski Field.
And there are a couple of articles submitted by the library trustees that are connected to a proposal to build a new library. One of the articles involves authorizing the library board of trustees to accept the schematic design for a new library at 34 Northfield Road. Another article, if approved, would let library trustees pursue state grants for library construction. The annual meeting will be held at the Erving Elementary School on May 2 at 7 p.m.
