CRAFTERS AND VENDORS: Looking for crafters and vendors interested in renting a booth at the 40th Annual Gas Engine Show & Flea Market, which is hosted by the United Church of Bernardston. BEAUTY & THE BEAST:
SENIORITY DANCE COMPANY: Greenfield Senior Center invites dancers for the start of the spring season. SDC, under the direction of Kathy Steinem, is a high-quality mixed-age adult group that performs a variety of dance styles including contemporary, jazz and modern. The group meets for class and rehearsals Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. at the center. SILVERTHORNE THEATER COMPANY: Silverthorne will sponsor a competition to select a new play by a local playwright of color for possible production during the 2017 season. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 1. Complete information about the contest may be found at www.silverthornetheater.org/new-play-competition2.html A reading committee of five members, headed by veteran Montague writer/actor Kent Alexander, will review all submissions. Three finalists will be selected for public staged readings in November and December, with the final competition winner announced on Dec. 30. Play submissions must be full length (90 minutes to two hours running time); they must not have been previously fully produced. Playwrights of color (defined as non-white) who live or study in the Connecticut Valley/Western Massachusetts region are solely eligible to submit plays.
HILLTOWN HARMONY CHORUS: Celebrating five years this spring. Join this multigenerational chorus led by Shelley Roberts. Thursday rehearsals, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Senior Center Hall, 7 Main St. in Shelburne Falls, through April 28. April 29 concert.
AMANDLA CHORUS: Amandla will hold open rehearsals at 7 p.m. on four Tuesdays in May (10, 17, 24 and 31). Men, women and teens are invited. The chorus is looking for additional singers for its 29th season, which begins in September. Rehearsal and auditions are at Temple Israel, 27 Pierce St. in Greenfield.
