GREENFIELD — State transportation officials have scheduled a 6 p.m. hearing tonight at the John W.Olver Transportation Center for people to offer feedback on a five-year, $14.3 billion blueprint for shoring up roads, bridges, public transit and other infrastructure.
The meeting, taking place in the street-level community meeting room of the Olive Street center, will discuss priorities for the capital investment plan.
State Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack says the plan would target more capital spending on improvements in existing transportation infrastructure, and far less on new projects or expansion.
The plan includes $2 billion to address structurally deficient bridges.
Among regional projects of interest in the proposed spending plan is $3.8 million for the planned Knowledge Corridor rail service, replacement of a Route 2 bridge over the Deerfield River in Buckland, resurfacing of Routes 5 and 10 in Deerfield and Whately, as well as others.
There would be some money set aside for study or design work on possible new projects such as South Coast commuter rail, the Green Line extension and renovation of Boston’s South Station.
