The Greenfield Minor League will be holding a Pitch, Hit and Run competition May 7 at Lunt Field in Greenfield.
The competition is open to anyone in the area ages 7 through 12 on or before April 30. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event and the competition begins at 10 a.m.
The winners of each age group will move on to the Regional competition on a date and place to be named.

K of C openings/practice
The Knights of Columbus Golf League at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls will hold an optional practice night on Wednesday. League play starts on May 4.
The league can accommodate more new players of all ability levels.

The Wednesday Night Mixed Scramble Leagueat Oak Ridge Golf Club in Gill will hold a meeting Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the club.

WM Golf Center lessons
A series of 5-week golf clinics for all players will begin next month at the Western Masssachusetts Golf Center in Hadley.
The clinics will be conducted by PGA Professional Tom Toski, WMGC Teaching Director.
Clinics will be held on Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. starting on May 3; Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. starting on May 4; Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. starting on May 7; and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. starting on June 2.

Turners Suburban tryouts
The Turners Falls Suburban Softball League 14-and-under team is seeking two or three more players to complete its 2016 summer roster.
Tryouts will be held April 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Turners Falls High School. The rain date is May 1 from 1 to 3.
A player is eligible if she didn’t turn 15 before Jan. 1, 2016. One parent or guardian must be present after tryouts for a brief overview of the league.
League play begins on June 13, with playoffs from Aug. 1 to 5. Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Firebird 5K
The Firebird 5K will take place on June 4 at North Highland Pond Road in Greenfield.
The event is open to runners, walkers, teams and families and is designed to raise awareness about the disease of addition and preventative education. The goal of the event is to continue to bring more sober living options to the Greenfield area through the Firebird’s fundraising efforts.
The event begins at 10 a.m.
