NORTHFIELD — Transition Towns is once again asking videographers to submit short films for the fifth annual Pioneer Valley Film Festival this fall.
Festival entries should focus on sustainability or an aspect of sustainable living in the Pioneer Valley, and submissions are judged by a panel. It is free and open to the public, though donations are encouraged.
The films will also be broadcast on local cable access stations in Greenfield, Bernardston, Northfield, Shelburne, Buckland, Montague, Athol, Orange, Easthampton, Northampton, Amherst and Hadley, and will be made available online.
“Community members sharing stories and ideas visually on video seemed a great way to help us all transition to a more sustainable, community-oriented and resilient way of life,” said Judy Phillips of Transition Northfield.
Films in the past have included everything from documentaries about a local commercial composting operation to personal stories of living with goats, or using bicycles to get around the zero-carbon way. Other films have been about other people or organizations growing food, supporting our local pollinators, or fostering equity and community in their town.
Video submissions are due Oct 7 and the Film Festival is scheduled for Nov. 4 at Greenfield Community College. To submit a video, go to:
