12:15 a.m. — Caller from Main Street reports it appears as if someone is trying to break into his residence; officers conducted an exterior search, but were unable to locate any person, and no report of a break or damage to the property.

12:25 a.m. — Report of a disturbance outside a Summit Street location and officers made contact with a mother and her son who advised that they were involved in an altercation with their roommate, and were locked out of the residence; the son left to stay with a friend for the evening; report taken, and filed with DCF; also notification was made to the town of Board of Health and building inspector regarding the living conditions and structural integrity of the building involved.

8:20 a.m. — Accident reported by Control who advised there was a two-car motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of a business on East Main Street; both people involved exchanged information, and the damage was found to be under $1,000.

9:30 a.m. — Control reports a past breaking and entering, at a business on Daniel Shays Highway; this is under investigation.

12:56 p.m. — Trespassing, reported on Dukakis Drive where an off duty officer saw a known person going inside a building there; when confronted, the male said he used to do inspections for the town and was just looking around, he was asked to leave the property.

9:10 p.m. — General disturbance reported on West Main Street where the caller says a known person is breaking things and is possibly off her medications, on arrival she agreed to be transported to Athol Hospital to speak with professionals there.

Greenfield, March 28

12:21 a.m. — Officer states there is a large liquor bottle smashed in the roadway at Main and Davis streets and the officer would like it logged as it may be related to an earlier incident; it was picked up and thrown away.

10:42 a.m. — Hazardous condition came in form of a reporting person who said there was a hole in the sidewalk and fence of the White Bridge on Turners Falls side, the information was passed to the state highway department.

1:02 p.m. — Larceny reported at Padula Brothers on Shelburne Road where the caller says a John Deere Gator was stolen from this location over the weekend; officer investigating found the Gator was stolen at 6:11 p.m. on Saturday; report issued.

1:55 p.m. — Accident at Big Y Foods lot, two vehicles involved, minor damage, information was exchanged, and the reporting person was on the phone with the other person; nothing further needed.

2:25 p.m. — Accident at the Interstate 91 rotary, two vehicles involved, and both operators refuses medical attention; citation issue to operator for failing to use care stopping.

4:31 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Green River Road where the caller is concerned because somebody he doesn’t know is saying he is going to show up at his elderly parents house, and is angry; he was going to sell this guy a truck, but he sold it to somebody else first; now this guy is headed to the house anyway; officer spoke with the reporting person who was already at the scene at the residence and the reporting person believes the party may have arrived at the residence, and taken off (unknown direction of travel) as fresh tire marks were observed in the driveway; the reporting person was advised to contact police for report of any damage or forced entry to the residence; the residence appears to be in order.

6:18 p.m. — Caller from Wells Street believes someone tried to pry open her front door; officer investigating found no indication that the door was damaged by any breaking-and-entering attempt, it appeared to be normal wear and tear.

8:14 p.m. — Traffic stop at Maple and North streets, and officer has one in custody; another officer then assisted, as the vehicle was to be towed; arrested was Cory S. Steiner, 26, of High Street, Greenfield, charged with operating with revoked license, uninsured motor vehicle, expired inspection sticker, unregistered motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle after a revoked registration.

8:39 p.m. — Caller from Forest Avenue reports she can hear a child screaming behind her house, and on Linden Avenue; she isn’t sure of the exact house, she just knows it’s coming from behind her house on Forest Avenue; all quiet on officers arrival, and spoke with a resident in the area who reports not hearing anything.

8:59 p.m. — Caller from High Street reported being assaulted by another male; the reporting person stated he saw a white male running by him, on the phone, screaming that he was being chased by two men; the caller saw them take off down Hope Street; one male was wearing a black sweatshirt with Chippawa Boots; officers found it to be a simple assault and battery, and the alleged victim simply wishes the assailant to stay away.

Montague, March 28

4:08 a.m. — Male caller from L Street originally concerned about parking tickets given during the night, but during the conversation, the male stated that sometime ago tonight, he saw two people running from behind L Street and then the male saw a vehicle with “slashed tires,” but the reporting person refused to expand on the matter further; he was concerned, still, about parking tickets; dispatcher attempted to call back to the reporting person, three times, but got a busy signal on each try, and no further information available; officer was advised.

11:08 a.m. — Caller from area of Randall and Greenfield roads reports that yesterday someone had smashed a liquor bottle in the roadway at this location; she and her husband have since cleaned up the mess; she requested this be logged.

1:44 p.m. — Officer assisting DCF with a removal of a 10-year-old student, and the child is now in DCF custody.

2 p.m. — Larceny reported at Hunting Hills on Federal Street from where the reporting person came into the lobby to report that just before Easter she noticed plants were missing from her shop at that location; the caller initially reported this as a breaking and entering, but then stated she believes the thefts occurred while the shop was open, but she was in another part of the building; she was offered several times to speak with an officer and the reporting person refused, stating, “it won’t do any good.” The reporting person was advised this would be on record.

6:56 p.m. — Caller from Fourth Street advising of a belligerent male in the building behind hers, and she stated the “guy with the truck” is swearing and screaming at the individuals at that residence; the reporting person is reportedly concerned for residents as she says they are “mentally challenged and handicapped,” but the reporting person stated she couldn’t tell the dispatcher what the male looked like, and stated he was the one with the “green T-shirt, like the other night,” possibly a white male, shorter, with short hair; officer spoke to the reporting person at length and the chief complaint was the noise, but she was concerned the male was being mean to the others; officer also spoke to the residents of the house in question, and they said that nobody was being mean; all is well.

8:13 p.m. — Caller from Third Street advises there is no longer an emergency, and she was calling about a male wanting to beat up her boyfriend; the reporting person stated she was on her way to her boyfriend’s apartment when this other male saw her, and he wanted her to ring the doorbell, so that her boyfriend would come downstairs, and he could beat him up; the male then left the area on foot just prior to dispatch answering the call, and he was last seen turning right onto the Avenue, walking toward the river; the reporting person stated the male was dragging a long blanket behind him; she was advised to call back right away if the male returns. Officer was advised but was unable to locate the male.

Greenfield, March 29

12:18 a.m. — Officer reports a disturbance in front of Taylor’s Tavern on Main Street, and another officer arrived to find the first officer dealing with an irate male, but then the second officer has the male in custody and headed to the station for booking; the original officer assisted with the arrest of Ronald James Buzzell, 22, listed as of the streets of Greenfield, charged with disorderly conduct.

731 a.m. — Disturbance reported at Oak Courts where the caller says a female is yelling and throwing chairs around; officers found she threw the chairs out of frustration; no other issues or person involved,

8:40 a.m. — Caller reports a hazards on Silver Street, near the high school, where the caller says the DPW is working in the road, blocking one lane, and no one is watching traffic; officer advised, and he explained the situation to the DPW workers there; the dump truck is being moved out of the roadway, and they were asked that someone pay attention to traffic.

9:03 a.m. — Problem reported at the Winslow building on Wells Street where the reporting person says he woke up this morning to find the pills that he got filled yesterday are now missing; he then told an officer the medication was lost from his pocket, when he walked to a church meal yesterday, and he stated he had his medication when he left and not when he returned; missing is 90 pills of Zanik, with his name on the bottle.

1:49 p.m. — Caller from Leyden Road wants to report a possible scam phone call from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009; officer spoke with the reporting person, and advised that money offered wouldn’t be sent to him via Western Union; officer attempted to contact the phone numbers given, but they were no longer in service.

3:58 p.m. — Suspicious vehicle on lower Main Street; the officer on duty located the owner, who renewed an expired registration online; citation issued.

4:21 p.m. — Walk-in to the station wishing to report a civil rights violation at the YMCA, officer to investigate, services rendered.

5:44 p.m. — Caller from Petty Plain Road states she went to look for her lock box, and noticed it was stolen; she wasn’t sure if she needed to come in and fill out a report, or have an officer give her a call back; the officer found the reporting person had not checked the house yet to see if the box had been moved by her daughter or boyfriend; she was advised to check the house for the box, and call back.

5:55 p.m. — Caller from Arbor Drive states she was receiving phone calls about having a law suit against her; the caller and the dispatcher agreed that an automated mail saying she was going to get sued if she didn’t send money, sounded an awful lot like a scam; she was advised of options.

10:49 p.m. — Unwanted persons reported at the Garden Cinema where the owner reports three teenagers were at this location that won’t leave while he is trying to close; the teens were gone on arrival of police, and no further service needed; learned that the teenagers were picked up by their mother.
