NORTHAMPTON — A Deerfield man pleaded guilty in Hampshire Superior Court Wednesday to stealing from a Girl Scouts cookie sale at Wal-Mart three years ago.
Cassidy Michalski, 28, of Deerfield pleaded guilty to theft from a person, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and shoplifting. The first charge was downgraded from unarmed robbery in a plea deal, court records show.
Michalski was placed on three years probation, court records show.
On Jan. 19, 2013, Nicholas Taverna, 25, of Greenfield approached a group of Girl Scouts selling cookies at Wal-Mart, 180 N. King St., and stole a cash box off the table before fleeing in a car allegedly driven by Michalski, Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Jayme Parent Parent said in court Monday.
The conditions of Michalski’s probation include refraining from drugs and alcohol, random drug testing, maintaining a job or education program, staying away from named victims and paying restitution.
