Greenfield, March 4

2:20 a.m. — Officer on patrol on Daniel Shays Highway noted a person sitting in a vehicle, and on contact found a female who was waiting for a ride, as she was unfit to drive; officer remained there until her ride showed up.

9:45 a.m. — Control reports they got a call from South Shore Drive from a resident stating there is a cow loose on their property; on officer’s arrival the cow’s owner was found and they will be removing the cow.

11:26 a.m. — Control reported a line down on Holtshire Road across the road; on officer’s arrival it was found to be a cable line, and it was removed and the cable company will be notified.

1:45 p.m. — Caller from East Main Street said she was inside a business there and when she went to leave, she noticed the rear window to her vehicle was broken; it was parked in a lot with multiple other vehicles; no other damage was found to the vehicle; report taken.

4:42 p.m. — Caller from Mechanic Street says his house is on fire with children upstairs; officers arrived and evacuated a dog and cat, but were unable to gain access to the second floor prior to Orange Fire Department arrival; officers assisted fire department personnel until more help arrived.

5:27 p.m. — Control got a call from a Daniel Shays Highway business that an employee arrived for work intoxicated, and left in a black Volkswagen; the involved person and the vehicle was located at the residence, their welfare was checked and they were left in the care of a sober and responsible adult.

8:50 p.m. — Control got a report of kids running around in a backyard on Prentiss Street; on arrival of an officer the reporting person stated that two people involved were known and names were given, one of them from Athol; this has been an on-going issue with the group ringing doorbells, then running away, and this has occurred at many different homes throughout the neighborhood; area was searched with negative result.

9:57 p.m. — Harassment reported on Hamilton Avenue for report of a group knocking on the door and running off, shouting obscenities; six juveniles were identified, and all will be criminally charged.

Greenfield, March 4

1:08 a.m. — Larceny reported by a New Hampshire person at Taylor’s Tavern who says his jacket and passport were stolen from this location; report issued.

2:28 a.m. — General disturbance reported from Armory Street where the female caller says there is a fight out front of the apartment building; and the caller then hung up; officers found it not as reported; people were talking loudly in their vehicle.

5:03 a.m. — Accident with unknown injuries on the south side of the underpass on Country Club Road; where a reporting person states a vehicle had struck a tree, and the operator was out of the black vehicle, stumbling around, and the caller believes the operator to be intoxicated; officer then checking the person with a field test, and investigation leads to arrest of Antonio Pantoja Jr., 25, of Bradford Drive, Greenfield, charged with operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of liquor, with test for 0.08 or greater; negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and leaving the scene of property damage; the officer then informed that the vehicle may have hit other things before hitting the tree; officer found more car parts in a driveway of a Country Club Road residence, and the vehicle had stuck the mailbox, but with minor damage. The vehicle was towed.

3:47 p.m. — Heather Lee Symanski, 25, of 69 Washington Street was pulled over for a traffic stop and charged with operating her vehicle with a revoked license, a suspended registration and an expired inspection sticker.

4:05 p.m. — Stanley R. Woodbury, 27, of 22 Grover Street Apt. 1 of Orange crashed his vehicle on Route 2 and following an investigation was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt, marked lanes violation, excessive speed and negligent operation of his vehicle.

Montague, March 4

12:06 a.m. — Female caller reporting suspicious tractor trailer around Sheffield Elementary School, and states the operator parked the truck behind the school and was walking around it; the truck may be marked. Officer responded and found the operator of the truck is delivering oil to the school.

Sunderland, March 5

9:40 a.m. — Officer at the Sunderland/Amherst town line, where some llamas are reported loose; Amherst will contact the owners, and the llamas were herded back onto the property.

10 a.m. — Officer on South Main Street where a brush fire was getting out of hand, as the wind picked up and spread the fire; officer was able to contain the fire until the fire department arrived.

3 p.m. — Officers on Russell Street to handle a Section 12 process, and the male was then transported by South County Ambulance to Baystate Franklin Medical Center, for evaluation.

Montague, March 6

9:52 a.m. — Vandalism reported on L Street where the caller is requesting an officer, as she has just walked outside to find a broken window on her rental car; the caller states she has spoken to officers multiple times in the past few days, regarding suspicious activity, larceny, and possible breaking and entering; detective to check the scene for prints and officer viewing the situation reports there is heavy damage to the side.

10:36 a.m. — Reporting person was concerned about the tractor trailer truck parked across the street from the Greenfield Savings Bank on Avenue A. It has been parked there running for about one hour; the reporting person is upset about the exhaust the vehicle is emitting; the reporting person also concerned about the trucks parking in the Food City lot, as she doesn’t want this space to become a truck stop; while on the phone the reporting person stated the truck on the side of the road is now leaving; she was advised this would be on record.

8:32 p.m. — Neighborhood disturbance on Randall Road where the reporting person requests to speak with an officer, as she is visiting her aunt at the residence there, and the resident of one of the apartments came outside, and took a photo of her, and then went back inside; officer spoke with the reporting person and she requested this be on record.

Sunderland March 6

6:35 p.m. — Call from a woman reporting she accidentally shipped two packages to her old address at Sugarloaf Estates; she requested a police escort to the apartment to speak to the resident there about getting the packages back; the residents stated they only received one package and that they had already given it to one of the woman’s friends a few days earlier; no other packages were ever delivered here.

7:03 p.m. — Two reports of an erratic operation of a vehicle on Route 116; the vehicle pulled into the plaza, and the female operator was spoken with; she showed no signs of alcohol or drug intoxication; she admitted to being up since 7 a.m. — Saturday morning and hadn’t slept since then; she said she worked all night at an establishment in Palmer; she was given a courtesy transport home, and was told not to operate her vehicle until she had sufficient rest.

Greenfield, March 7

1:37 a.m. — Welfare check on vehicles parked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles lot on Miner Street; found to be motorists sleeping in their vehicles, and all are either living out of their cars, or traveling through; all are OK.

11:04 a.m. — Report of repossession of a gray 2008 Acura on Greenfield street at Valley Steel Stamp location.

11:56 a.m. — Caller reporting that he was kicked out of his apartment on the third, and the police responded and gave him five minutes to collect his belongings, but he was unable to collect medications or clothing at that time; the involved female is still unwilling to let him return; officer spoke with the reporting person and the owner’s daughter, who states they left all his property outside by the fence, and she added he can pick up his belongings any time he wants; the reporting person was advised to get his belongings, and he said he will be there after 3 today.

2:46 p.m. — Accident at the Interstate 91 rotary, two vehicles involved but the caller says there are no injuries involved; officer sent, report taken.

3:32 p.m. — Accident at the Circle K Gas Station on the Mohawk Trail a Ford truck backed out of a parking space and collided with an Audi in the lot; information was exchanged; officer investigated.

5:18 p.m. — Report of a Section 12 situation at Bradford Drive, for a despondent person; officer then transported the subject to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

5:26 p.m. — General disturbance reported on Chapman Street where the father reports his son is out of control, yelling and screaming, and was throwing plates, and knocked a clock off the wall; the son is said to have taken “oxy 30s,” and the father reports this has been going on for the past 25-30 minutes; the son is now holding a broom, and is swinging it in air; officers there, and the reporting person reports a verbal argument with the son, and the son reported the same thing; son left to allow emotions to calm; report filed.
