For those of us who are having trouble deciding between Hillary and Bernie, let me say the excitement Bernie Sanders’ presidential candidacy has aroused among young voters has become the decisive factor for me (article and editorial, Feb. 23 issue about Sen. Stan Rosenberg initiative). Yes, Hillary is a woman, and I think females are the leaders we need because, on the whole, they think straighter than most of us men. She’s a brilliant politician, and she may be — slightly — less of a gamble to beat whatever Republican becomes the nominee. And yes, none of them, especially Donald Trump, would be a proper representative of the American spirit most of us know and love …
But a civically engaged young population is something to notice and encourage. Without it, our country and its culture faces perhaps even greater trouble than today. So I’m voting for Bernie.
