HEATH — Nomination papers for the May town election are now available by contacting Town Clerk Mary Sumner at 413-337-4934, ext. 006 or townclerk@townofheath.org. Papers with 20 signatures from registered voters must be returned to Sumner’s office by March 29 for the name to appear on the ballot.
Three-year terms on the following boards and committees will be on the ballot: Selectboard, Board of Assessors, Finance Committee (two seats), School Committee, library trustees and the Municipal Light Board. Additionally, a five-year term on the Planning Board is also available.
CHARLEMONT — Residents are invited to explore Charlemont’s history and connections to the Underground Railroad during a program at Tyler Memorial Library.
On Wednesday, March 5, at 1 p.m., local historians Bambi Miller and Mary Boehmer will be joined by Mary Leavitt and Elizabeth Field for a discussion on freedom seekers in the region. They will explore the lives of the Basil Dorsey family and the Leavitt family, as well as the Underground Railroad.

HEATH — The Heath Firefighters Association will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Fire Department on Saturday, March 15, at the municipal offices at 18 Jacobs Road.
For $15, diners can enjoy spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, a beverage and dessert. Takeout meals will be available from 4 to 5 p.m. and dine-in hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
ASHFIELD — A free square dance will be held Saturday, March 22, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Ashfield Town Hall.

Live music will be provided by the Falltown String Band, with Doug Wilkins calling the dances. All ages and square dance experience levels are welcome. Dances will be taught and beginners are advised to come promptly at 7 p.m. to learn the basics.
The square dance is funded by grants from the Ashfield, Buckland, Shelburne and Williamsburg cultural councils. A snow date has been set for March 29.
