Town clerk holding special voter registration hours

SHELBURNE — The Town Clerk’s Office will offer additional voter registration hours on Thursday, April 10, from 10:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. for those who are not currently registered to vote in Shelburne but would like to attend the April 22 Special Town Meeting.

Special Town Meeting will start at 7 p.m. at Buckland-Shelburne Elementary School, 75 Mechanic St.

And on Saturday, April 26, the Town Clerk’s Office will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. for additional voter registration for the May 6 Annual Town Meeting, which will also be held at Buckland-Shelburne Elementary.

Part of Heath Road to close for a week

COLRAIN — A portion of Heath Road will be closed from April 9 to April 15 to allow for construction and culvert replacement work along Taylor Brook, weather permitting. Motorists will be detoured to Maxam Road and Hager Cross Road.

Smithsonian exhibit opening April 17

BUCKLAND — Mohawk Trail Regional School will host the opening night for the traveling Smithsonian visit “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” on Thursday, April 17, at 4 p.m.

The exhibit focuses on democracy in rural America, and will be highlighted with weekly programming through mid-May, when the exhibit will travel to its next destination.

To celebrate its opening night, Mohawk Trail Regional School will also host its annual spring concert, when students will perform a selection of songs about voting rights and protest songs.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m. and is free to attend, though donations will be accepted. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale to benefit the Music Department.

Cyrus Stage Road Bridge closed

ROWE — The Cyrus Stage Road Bridge is closed until further notice for construction.

Motorists will be detoured to Leshure Road and Groll Road around to Number Nine Road. For more information and a detour map, visit rowe-ma.gov.

Park cleaning party planned April 26

ASHFIELD — The annual Belding Memorial Park Work Bee will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at the town beach on Buckland Road.

Participants are asked to bring yard rakes, wheelbarrows and work gloves. Cookies and cider will be provided by the Park Commission.
