Don Ogden: No way for Kittredge Estate

The recent column “Forward is the right way for Kittredge Estate” [Recorder, Dec. 16] could be re-titled “Deception is the wrong way for Kittredge Estate.” Writer Joshua Wallack claimed, “we received hundreds of DMs and emails of [Leverett] residents urging us to push forward.” Really? We’d love to see all of them. Perhaps some of them are signed “AI.” This writer strongly doubts even 100 Leverett residents supports what appears to be an utterly unneeded upscale gated community (the gates are already in place along with high walls). Yes, Leverett needs realistically affordable housing but using that need as the carrot for the actual stick of developer obfuscation leads nowhere. It is said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time ...” but not in this town. Leverett has been around the block for 250 years and Yankees aren’t easily fooled, especially by developers who are out of their element.
