I am writing this letter to support Susannah Whipps for state representative for the 2nd Franklin District.
Susannah has been the incumbent since 2015. In that period of time, I have personally called on her office a number of times for help. Each time, Susannah’s office has responded with enthusiasm and professionalism. Susannah has been a resident of the region her entire life. She has dedicated her entire adult life to public service, having served on various committees in the town of Athol, including the Selectboard. Susannah has a genuine passion for serving the communities she represents. Her decision to switch from the Republican Party to being unenrolled (the only independent in the House), although met with a small amount of criticism at the time, was the definition of doing what is best for the district. By this selfless act, Susannah has been able to work with both major parties in the Legislature to get many important projects accomplished for the district.
Instead of being part of the political bickering, Susannah has been able to focus on important tasks and goals. This has been most beneficial to our district. In these troubled times when so much uncertainty surrounds the political landscape, it is imperative that we have representation with valuable experience and integrity. Both of these values matter. Being able to work across the aisles, focusing on what really matters instead of political ideology is critical for our district. Being respected by colleagues matters. Susannah brings all of these values and experience to the table. Susannah’s experience, passion, dedication and integrity can not be overlooked when it comes time to cast your vote. We simply can not afford to start over with a new representative who is aligned more with his party ideals than the important tasks ahead of us in this district.
I ask that you please consider voting for Susannah Whipps for state representative for the 2nd Franklin District on Nov. 5.
