A fish returning to spawn is a gift to us all. It travels its terrestrial pathway with the gift in its soul. But in Northfield, the gift is stolen and broken for us all. The Northfield Mountain Pumped Storage Station ensures the slow death of the Great River. Sucking and severing the gift of the Great River. A gift, taken from us all, broken, exploited, ignored and disrespected. Sever a main artery and we die. Sever the main artery of the Connecticut River and it continues its slow death. The Great New England River is forced backwards and forward in the jaws of the angry turbines at the pumping station at Northfield Mountain, creating regular “strokes” to the heart of the river. Who gains ? Who loses ? “Colon removal” for another 50 years ? What are we going to do ? In this age of climate change, we cannot continue to lose our collective gifts that are only real if not exploited, stolen and broken. Please speak with your energy and voices.
