HS Roundup: Frontier boys, girls track earn wins over Mohawk Trail (PHOTOS)

It’s always a big track and field meet when Frontier and Mohawk Trail square off every spring and it was no different on Tuesday in South Deerfield.
In a meet that will go a long way to deciding the Intercounty title, the Redhawk girls walked away with a 90-55 victory.
Winners for the Frontier girls were Lilly Novak in the shot (31 feet, 11.75 inches) and discus (104-1), Hannah Davis in the long jump (15-1) and 100 hurdles (17.5 seconds), Maia Christensen in the high jump (4-10), Elsa Brown in pole vault (7-6), Josie Fosnot in the 400 (65.0), Maddie Antes in the 400 hurdles (75.0), Addie Morrey in the 800 (2:34.8) and Sylvie DiBarolomeo in the 2 mile (12:24). The Redhawks won the 4x400 relay (4:28.3).
First place finishers for the Mohawk Trail girls were Morgan Raffa in javelin (111-7), Zephyr Jetzon in the triple jump (31-3.5), 100 (13.7) and 200 (28.3) and Virginia Krezmien in the mile (5:58). The Warriors won the 4x100 relay (54.8).
Greenfield 126, Athol 15 — Natalia Cody won the javelin (74-3), the mile (7:11.2) and the 800 (3:29.1) while Nina St. Clair won the triple jump (33-4) and 100 (13.6) for the Green Wave, who defeated the Bears in Greenfield Tuesday.
Rounding out the Greenfield winners were Tayler Bergeron in the long jump (13-7.5), Suhani Patel in the high jump (4-6), Annie Cobileanschi in pole vault (6-0), Mackensie Goncalves in the 100 hurdles (20.5), Payton Martin in the 400 (1:14.6), Kyra Tamsin in the 400 hurdles (1:16.9), Henley Gilstrap in the 200 (29.5) and Rose Fortin in the 2 mile (16:23.9). The Wave won the 4x100 (1:08.1) and 4x400 (4:47.4) relays.
Karleigh Chase won the shot put (28-6.5) and discus (78-10) for Athol.
Turners 80, Mahar 59
Pioneer 77, Turners 54— Molly Howe won the 2 mile (15:39) for the Thunder, who split with the Senators and Panthers in Turners Tuesday.

Other Turners winners were Tristan Bliss in discus (89-10.5), Jakhia Williams in the 100 (13.0) and Charlotte Canterbury in the 800 (2:58.4).
Mahar winners were Madilyn Moore in shot put (27-10) and Stellina Moore in the long jump (14-6), pole vault (9-0).
Pioneer winners were Natalie Rios in javelin (117-1), Emmanuelle Flagollet in the triple jump (28-5.75), 400 hurdles (71.8) and 100 hurdles (17.5), Louise Flagollet in the high jump (5-0) and 400 (64.2), Izzy Allen in the mile (7:05.2) and Dani Teaca in the 200 (29.2).
Frontier 84, Mohawk 59 — Garrett Dredge won the triple jump (37-6.5) and long jump (18-10.5) while Ben Cachiguango took the 110 hurdles (15.9) and 400 hurdles (61.3) in the Redhawks’ victory over the Warriors in South Deerfield Tuesday.
Rounding out the Frontier winners were Ezra Rich in the shot put (36-9.5), John Reloj in the discus (120-6), Adrien Pazmandy in the pole vault (10-6) and 400 (53.4), Gus Radner in the mile (5:14), Charles Dennis in the 800 (2:16) and Evan Hedlund in the 2 mile (9:56.2). The Redhawks won the 4x400 relay (3:45.7).
Mohawk Trail winners were Tanner Biagini in the 100 (11.9) and 200 (24.3), Crimson Helenek in the javelin (134-3) and Chay Mojallali in the high jump (6-4). The Warriors won the 4x100 relay (48.0).
Greenfield 117, Athol 26 — Mason Youmell took the triple jump (41-2.25), pole vault (9-0) 110 hurdles (13.7) and 400 hurdles (58.1) for the Green Wave in a win over the Bears in Greenfield Tuesday.
Other Greenfield winners were Mark Nero in the long jump (17-9.25), Krish Patel in the high jump (5-10), Jon Breor in javelin (137-2), Jack Laurie in the 100 (10.9) and 200 (23.6), Alex Scotera in the mile (5:26.6) and 2 mile (12:14.2), Dylan Breiwick in the 400 (55.9) and 800 (2:24.6).
Nicholas Leblanc took the shot put (44-8) and discus (161-3) for Athol.
Mahar 87, Franklin Tech 54
Franklin Tech 88, Pioneer 45 — The Eagles earned a split against the Senators and Panthers in Turners on Tuesday.
Winners for Franklin Tech were Atley Gonzalez-Jayne in discus (102-10) and Dylan Cullen in the 200 (24.3).
Mahar winners were Jayden Dicato in shot put (37-6.5), Mitchell Krasco in the triple jump (40-5), high jump (5-8), 110 hurdles (16.3) and 400 hurdles (61.5), Coltin Fausett in pole vault (10-0), Mathieu Soucy in the 100 (11.2) and 400 (51.6) and Isiah Whitmore in the 2 mile (13:42). The Sens won the 4x100 relay (46.7).
Pioneer winners were Jayden Tyler in javelin (118-7) and Ryan Spofford in the mile (5:35) and 2 mile (2:14.4).
Mahar’s Daniel Finch and Pioneer’s Everett Allen tied in the long jump (17-3.5).
Greenfield 7, Hampshire 0 — The Green Wave won their second in a row on Tuesday, as Arthur Fitzpatrick struck out nine, walked three and scattered just three hits in seven innings work to lead Greenfield to Suburban League West victory at Vets Field.
Conner Bergeron singled, doubled and drove in two, David Knox recorded a hit and drove in two runs while Chase Zraunig, Luca Siano and Urijah Jenness hit safely in the win for the Wave.
Smith Academy 2, Mahar 1 (8) — The Senators took a 1-0 lead in the fourth but the Falcons tied the game in the top of the seventh, added a run in the top of the eighth and Mahar couldn’t answer, as Smith Academy escaped with a Bi-County North victory in Orange Tuesday.
Matt Vitello pitched all eight innings for the Sens, striking out eight and walking just one. Clayde Thompson singled and tripled, Hunter Brooks drove in a run and singled while Kayden McGivern, Freeland Ringer, Jackson Burnham and Luke Levangie hit safely in the loss.
Ware 14, Turners 1 — The Thunder were unable to earn a road victory in Ware Tuesday. Brody Girard had the lone hit for Turners.
Franklin Tech 19, Athol 0 (5) — Hannah Gilbert was dominant in the circle for the Eagles, throwing a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 14 while adding two singles, a triple and two RBIs at the plate as Tech cruised to a Franklin County League East victory in Athol Tuesday.
Lindsey Taylor recorded a hit and three RBIs, Kylee Gamache tripled and drove in an RBI while Ava Worden added a base hit in the win for the Eagles.
Frontier 8, Taconic 1 — Skyler Steele went 3-5 with a double while Raine Wonsey struck out five, didn’t allow a walk and added a single and a double at the plate as the Redhawks pulled away with a Franklin County League West victory in Pittsfield Tuesday.
Olivia Machon blasted three hits, Delaney Fifield tripled while Sophia Pinardi, Addie Ehle and Lexi Hawkins hit safely in the winning effort.
Pioneer 14, Mohawk Trail 9 — Maggie Tsipenyuk singled and doubled while Jacobia Tyminski tripled for the Panthers in a victory over the Warriors in Buckland on Tuesday.
Abby Moffatt doubled and singled twice, Addie Loomis tripled, Emmalee Inman singled twice while Grace Stevens struck out four for Mohawk Trail.
Turners 17, Mount Greylock 4 — Madi Liimatainen and Maddie Dietz both finished with three hits and an RBI while Janelle Massey hit a two-run homer to propel the Thunder to a Franklin County League West triumph in Williamstown on Tuesday.
Marilyn Abarua and McKenzie Stafford both recorded a pair of hits and RBIs, Addison Talbot finished with a hit and an RBI while Mia Marigliano and Ameliya Galbraith hit safely in the victory.
Liimatainen got the win in the circle, striking out eight and walking just one.
Greenfield 8, Wahconah 1 — The Green Wave earned a Franklin County League West victory on the road in Dalton on Tuesday.
Olivia Lemay and Gloria McDonald both cracked three hits, Anna Bucala and Grace Laurie each had two hits while MacKenzie Paulin drove in a run with a single for Greenfield.
Frontier 5, Palmer 0 — The Redhawks got back in the win column on Tuesday, improving to 7-1 with a sweep over the Panthers in South Deerfield.
Casey Bestler (6-0, 6-0), Brayden Reipold (6-0, 6-0) and Anthony Lionardi (6-0, 6-0) each cruised to singles wins while Xavier Fripp and Noah Nichols (6-1, 6-1) and Liam Wells and Oliver Brown (6-3, 6-0) earned victories in doubles for Frontier.
St. Mary’s 3, Frontier 2 — The Saints swept the singles matches to defeat the Redhawks in Westfield on Tuesday.
Esther Ehle and Aylen Shaw won in No. 1 doubles (4-6, 6-1, 6-3) while Brooke Charest and Hailey Fernan dez took No. 2 doubles (6-3, 6-4) for Frontier.
Palmer 4, Turners 1 — Olivia Wolbach earned a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 triumph in No. 1 singles for the Thunder in a road loss to the Panthers Tuesday.
