HS Roundup: Franklin Tech baseball wins third in a row following 8-1 triumph over Smith Academy

The Franklin Tech baseball team is off to a hot start.
After wins over Turners Falls and St. Mary’s to open the season last week, the Eagles made it three wins in a row on Monday after pulling away with an 8-1 Bi-County North victory over Smith Academy in Turners Falls.
Hunter Donahue tripled and knocked in a run, Gavin Crossman and George Gutierrez each recorded a hit and an RBI while Zaydrien Alamed and Brody Hicks hit safely for Franklin Tech. Mason Lehtomaki and Nick Prasol each struck out two while Crossman added a strikeout in the winning effort.
“Our pitching has carried us,” Franklin Tech coach Dan Prasol said. “Our defense has been very good. We played good defense today and turned two double plays. We’re doing the right things defensively. Gavin was excellent on the mound, Mason looked good today.”
Mount Greylock 21, Pioneer 3 (5) — Leading 2-1 after two, the Mounties scored six in the third, seven in the fourth and six more in the fifth to pull away with an independent victory over the Panthers in Northfield on Monday.
