Bulletin board: Caleb Thomas pitches Greenfield Post 81 past Sheffield

A impressive performance on the mound from Caleb Thomas lifted Greenfield Post 81 to a convincing victory on Friday night.
Thomas struck out 11 batters across six innings, scattering five hits to go with two walks and one unearned run as Post 81 snagged a 7-1 victory over Sheffield Post 340 in an American Legion Senior Division contest at Vets Field in Greenfield.
Greenfield (8-4) took control quickly, scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning. It was 4-1 into the bottom of the sixth before the hosts scored three more to put things out of reach.
Thomas, Dylen Richardson (two walks) and Ethan Mauthe all had two hits to power Post 81, while Logan Moore singled, walked three times and drove in a run. Michael Pierce and Ben Werner also recorded RBIs, and Jackson Campbell walked and scored twice.
Greenfield will travel to undefeated Belchertown on Sunday to play the rest of a suspended game from earlier this season.
Tri-County League
Colin Cloutier smacked a three-run home run and also doubled, helping Hilltown Tents pick up a 10-7 win over the Chicopee Tigers in a Tri-County League contest on Thursday at Holyoke Community College.
Kevin Baumann and Gabe Gochinski also doubled for the Tentmen, while Tyler McLain, Kyle Noska, Maleek McMillan and Ben Arnold notched base hits.

Bill Erman and Paul Viens amassed 68 points to lead the field at the Greenfield Elks Golf League at the Country Club of Greenfield during Week 12 action on Wednesday.
Keith Schempp and John Stacy tied for second with Mike Larabee and Tom Rogers (64.5 points). Joe LaChance and Bill Martin were next with 63 points.
Closest to pin winners were Frank McDonald (No. 2, 8 feet, 4.5 inches) and Lee Winemiller (No. 5, 9-5.5).

Owen Morse poured in 35 points and Gehrig Brynda followed with 32 points as Smooth Operators took down Brattleboro, 82-74, in a DRIVE League men’s division basketball game on Wednesday at Greenfield High School.
Oakley Meyer (16 points) and Charlie Galanes (15) paced Brattleboro.
• Elsewhere, Trevor Thomas scored 19 points and Ryan Roberts added 15 in Rattigan and Sons’ 61-54 win over Crossover Crew.
Josh Hansen led Crossover Crew with 13 points, and Jalen Sanders scored 11.
• In other action, Andrew Ciaglo paced 413 Elite with 18 points, and Spencer Butterfield scored 16 in their team’s 97-82 win over Triple Threat Tribe.
Triple Threat Tribe’s Mike Menard led all scorers with 21, and Ian Spearence added 13.
• Caden Killelly (10 points) and Aaray Patel (8) were high scorers for Hinsdale in its 28-26 win over Athol in a boys JV game on Wednesday at Stoneleigh Burnham School.
