David Carey and Dominic Badorini combined on a no-hitter and led Turners Falls to a 14-1 win over Southampton in the championship game of the Mini Fenway 10-and-under Tournament Monday night under the lights in Belchertown.

The game was called after 3½ innings due to the mercy rule. Carey and Badorini, who pitched well throughout the tournament in helping Turners Falls finish a perfect 5-0, struck out eight over four innings of no-hit ball.

Jake Dodge led the offense with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs, while Carey also homered and finished with two hits and three RBIs. Cayden Lehtomaki doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Gavin Rubio hit a solo home run as part of a two-hit performance, and Dalton Henderson had two hits. Badorini doubled, Quinn McDonald hit an RBI single, and Corbin Leh singled.

CC of G Women’s

The Monday Night Women’s League at the Country Club of Greenfield held a Closest-to-the-Pin, Longest-Drive and Fewest-Putts Tournament.

Dale Allis was closest to the pin on No. 5 at 24 feet.

Nancy Robie won the A Division Longest Drive, Lori Grover won Division B, and Wanda Pyfrom won Division C.

Susan Plante and Janet Andrew won fewest putts in the A Division with 14. Anne Corrinet, Diane Wood and Bobbee Low tied for fewest putts in the B Division with 17, and Lynn Courrier and Debbie Luippold tied for fewest putts in the C Division with 18.

Morning Crew

Ernie Patnode, Fran Gougeon, Pete Johnson and Jim Kennedy won first place during the Morning Crew Summer Luncheon at the Country Club of Greenfield on Monday.

The 10th annual Edge Basketball Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 17 at Northfield Golf Course.

Montague Co-Rec

Jake Coburn and Matt Luippold each had three hits, including two home runs apiece, and Kustom Auto Body defeated previously unbeaten Between the Uprights, 13-7, in a Montague Co-Rec Adult Softball League game Monday night at Unity Field in Turners Falls.

Kristin Ouellette had three hits in the win.

Luis Melendez slugged a pair of solo home runs for BTU, and Jason Bohonowicz had two hits, including a home run.

Crush 10s at Dalton

The Franklin County Crush 10-and-under team went 0-3 at the Dalton Tournament over the weekend with losses to the Dalton Warriors (12-2), Berkshire Force (8-6), and Berkshire Force again (11-1).

Kate Trudeau batted .400 on the weekend and scored three runs, and Bri Widelo struck out 13 in the circle, and also batted .333. Rachel Dodge hit .500 and drove in a run, and Holly Myers batted .333 and played well defensively at first base. Kelly Baird played well in center field, including making a diving catch, Anna Bucala and McKenzie Paulin each had a hit, and Ava Widelo drove in a run.

Mohawk crushes Chicopee

Reagan DuPree doubled and drove in two runs to lead Mohawk to a 13-1, five-inning win over Chicopee in a Suburban League 14-and-under fast-pitch softball game Monday in Buckland.

Shelby Sinistore and Sage Spitzer each had two hits and two RBIs in the win, and Sinistore earned the win by firing a two-hitter.

Yenetti Aguire and Megan Lumpke each singled in the loss.

Grizzly 12s top Frontier

Gianna Conte struck out five in four innings to help the Greenfield Grizzlies to a 14-7 win over Frontier in a SL 12-and-under fast-pitch softball game Monday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Greenfield.

Kameryn Dearborn pitched two innings to earn the save and also went 2-for-2 with a double. Conte doubled in the win, and Alexis Farrick doubled and singled. Julia Kovalsick had three hits, Tara O’Connor had two hits, and Olivia Stafford added a hit.

Valley Storm tryouts

The Valley Storm Softball organization will hold tryouts for its various fast-pitch teams during the month of August.

The Storm has a 12U, 14U and 16U team and the following is information on tryouts for each:

DRIVE Men’s semis

Brian Clark scored 36 points, and Jake Ross added 31 to lead DRIVE Hoops to a 103-89 win over Snow & Sons Landscaping during the DRIVE Hoops Men’s League semifinals Sunday evening at Pioneer Valley Regional School in Northfield.

Nick Seretta scored 20 points in the loss, and Mat Sulda added 18.

• In the other semifinal on Sunday, Chris Brown netted 19 points, and Troy Snell dumped in 16 as VT Nameless crushed Keene, 101-58.

Taylor Smith scored 16 in the loss, and Ryan Blair added 11.

The teams will meet in the championship game Wednesday night at 8 at Pioneer.

FC Frontier at Revolution Cup

FC Frontier took a pair of under-11 soccer teams to the Revolution 4 vs. 4 Cup Saturday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

FC Frontier entered a pair of teams into the U12 Division and one squad went 2-1 in pool play and the other went 3-0 in pool play but suffered a 7-5 loss in the championship game.

Dante Ruggiano, Matthew Sicard and Griffin Goldman each scored five times on the weekend for FC Frontier, while Trey Fraser and Cameron Zononi each had three goals, and Jason Dion scored twice. Fraser had eight assists, Zononi had four helpers, Sicard had three assists, and Nate Cosme, Dante Ruggiano and Goldman each had two assists.

Youth Soccer Program

The Northampton Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Parent & Child Pre-K and Youth Soccer Program for kids in Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st and 2nd grade on Saturday mornings at Look Park. The seven-week program starts September 10th and runs thru October 22nd. The Preschool and Kindergarten divisions are coed, the 1st / 2nd grade division has both boys and girls teams. Beacon Classic

Field Maloney defeated Kyle Maroni, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Beacon Clay Court Classic Men’s Singles Tennis Tournament Monday night in Greenfield.

Bill Thompson earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Brian Campbell in another quarterfinal, and Brian Lamore topped Josh Provencher, 6-1, 6-0. Dave Deherdt earned a bye to the semifinals.

Deherdt will face Maloney in one semifinal, while Thompson and Lamore will meet in the other semifinal.

Tri-County Open

The Franklin County Bar Association’s fifth-annual Tri-County Open Co-Ed Tennis Tournament will take place on Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. at the Deerfield Academy Tennis Complex.

The tournament is doubles format, single elimination and open to anyone interested. Cost is $40 per team and tennis balls will be provided. Deadline to register is Aug. 4 at 4 p.m.

Road racing

Elms track benefit

A 3.5-mile road race will be held Saturday in Northfield to benefit the new track and field team at Elms College in Chicopee.

The race will start at Northfield Town Hall at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9:15 a.m. Registration fee is $7 per person, and children under 12 years old can run for free.

The low-key race is open to participants of all ability levels who may choose to run or walk the course. Prizes will awarded to the top three male and female finishers.

Funds raised will help raise money to buy uniforms, equipment and other necessities for the new track and field team, which will compete in its inaugural season in the spring of 2017.

In case of severe weather (such as a thunderstorm), the race will be moved to July 31.

Montague Mug Race

The 36th annual Montague Mug Race will be held on Aug. 20 in Montague Center.

The 5.5-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. from the Village Common. Pewter Mugs are awarded to top male and female finishers, and coffee mugs are given to the to top finishers of each division. T-shirts will be available for the first 90 runners.

Now in its 12th year, the 2-mile Mini Mug Race will kick off at 8:35 a.m.

Both races will finish at the ball field. All runners are entered into drawing for local prizes.
