LEVERETT — Fifty-seven-year-old Belchertown resident Kevin Douville has died following a crash on Route 63/Long Plain Road on Saturday afternoon.

According to Northwestern District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Mary Carey, the vehicle involved was attempting to turn into a driveway on Long Plain Road when it was struck by an oncoming motorcycle shortly after 2 p.m. A passenger on the motorcycle was also hospitalized with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 80s, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to Carey. No criminal charges have been issued.

One of the injured individuals was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, the other to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, according to Chief Walter “Tim” Nelson of the Amherst Fire Department, which responded to the scene with ambulances.

Route 63, a primary north-south artery between Montague and Amherst, was closed for about four hours as the crash was investigated and the scene was cleared, according to a post on the Leverett Fire Department’s Facebook page.

According to Carey, Leverett Police, Sunderland Police and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and continue to investigate the incident, with assistance from Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
