Pee Wee Basketball: Registration for children in kindergarten to second grade is open. Learn the fundamentals of the game through skill-building drills and scrimmages. Thursday nights, Jan. 9 through March 5. $35 for residents, $45 for non-residents. The registration deadline is Thursday. An additional $5 late fee will be added for all late registrations.

Parking Meter Painting: Meters will be available to paint over the course of three days, Jan. 14 to 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 20 Sanderson St. Artists ages 16 and up may work independently, and younger children can participate with the guidance of an adult partner. Canvasses will also be provided for young artists interested in creating an independent masterpiece. Registration is free, but register before Jan. 7. Space is limited and registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Winter Carnival: Get ready for “There’s Snow Place Like Home.” Winter Carnival, Jan. 31 to Feb. 2. Back by popular demand, the sixth annual Parade of Lights. Help to light up the night by decorating your vehicle in lights. Contact the Recreation Department for more information and a registration form. The Recreation Department is also seeking ice carvers for the annual downtown Ice Sculpture Walk. If you are an artist who would like to get involved, call the Recreation Department.

February Break Vacation Week: Sign up for a week of activities, games and outdoor fun for your child in kindergarten through sixth grade. This program takes place at 20 Sanderson St. from Tuesday, Feb. 18 to Friday, Feb. 21. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with early and late care available. Includes walking field trips to Beacon Field for sledding, skating and fun in the snow. A lunch, afternoon snack and drink must be sent with each child. A morning snack is provided. Children must also bring appropriate winter clothing (boots, hats, gloves, etc). $120 for residents, $130 for non-residents. Additional fees for early and late care. Registration deadline is Feb. 4. A $25 late fee will be assessed for all late registrations.
