Sawmill River 10K Run: Registration for the annual Sawmill River 10K has begun. The run is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Montague Center. The road race will begin promptly at 10 a.m. near the common on Main Street. Race-day registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montague Common Hall, 34 Main St. Divisions include: youth (ages 17 and under), open (18 to 39), master (40 to 49), senior (50 to 59) and senior plus (60 and up). Entry fees are $30 (if paid by noon on Dec. 31), or $35 (thereafter). Hot and cold refreshments will be provided. This event benefits the Montague Parks & Recreation Department’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program. The Sawmill River 10K Run is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. Open Swim: Turners Falls High School Pool. Family swim, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and adult lap swim, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Friday evenings: Jan. 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28 and 31; Feb. 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28; and March 3 and 6. Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Season passes are available. Non-swimmers must wear a United States Coast Guard Certified life jacket. Open swim is canceled if school is canceled.
