Grub-Hub? Not here.

A Recorder ad on April 20 asks for perishable food donations to “feed the need.” A noble gesture to be sure. There was a time when the solicitors would ask the donor to leave their offering near their mailbox or on their porch or door step for pick-up. For your consideration. The donor must travel to wherever to make the purchase of whatever they may be donating. The donor then packages the goods and leaves them at either one of the aforementioned pick-up locations. Time and money are the operatives here. Not so bad considering the steps in the scenario, i.e., travel, purchase, package, conveniently leave for pick-up.

At present, the scenario includes; travel, purchase, package, and now it’s accompanied by a delivery of the goods to a predetermined location. Let’s review. Travel, time, purchase, package, delivery; which may translate to additional time and inconvenience to the donor. We never balked at making a donation when we could leave it at our door step or mailbox. Now we must deliver it as well! No soup for you.
