‘Cara’s Art and Armenian Cuisine’
CHARLEMONT — Reserve your place at the table for “Cara’s Art and Armenian Cuisine,” set for Saturday, June 23, beginning at 5 p.m. The event features appetizers, dinner and dessert for a $15 to $20 donation. Marlene Nalbandian and her family will be preparing the meal. The Rev. Cara Hochhalter’s artwork will be for sale. This is a fundraiser for the Charlemont Federated Church. SHELBURNE — The Shelburne Congregational Church will offer a free intergenerational drumming program as part of their celebration of the town’s 250th anniversary. Led by master drummer, Ellen Clegg, the group will first meet on Wednesday evening, June 20, to create two original compositions that will then be performed on Sunday, June 24, as part of the congregation’s morning service. The program is limited to the number of drums available, which is 20, and registration is required. SOUTH DEERFIELD — Holy Family Parish (31 Sugarloaf St.) will hold its second annual SummerFest, a parish picnic, on Sunday, June 24, 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. There will be hamburgers and hot dogs, hayrides, a lottery tree and games for the kids. Tickets are on sale for $10 for adults, in the parish office and on the day of the picnic. Children under 12, free. Come join in the family fun, food and music featuring T.J. and the Peepers.
GILL — On Sunday, June 24, the Gill Church will host an old-fashioned church picnic on the church property and Town Common.
The event will begin with a church service from 10 to 11 a.m. that will include the Agape Baptist Church (Moldovan) youth choir.
The picnic will begin at noon with the ringing of the church bell, followed by an outdoor presentation by the choir which will include gospel, spirituals, patriotic and American folk tunes. Lunch will be at 1 p.m. It is a bring-your-own-lunch event. The community is invited to participate by bringing picnic baskets and a blanket or lawn chair. The church will supply water, lemonade and watermelon. The Friends of Gill plan to serve strawberry shortcake. Following lunch, there will be more music and singing. There will also be activities and games for the children.
CHARLEMONT — The Charlemont Federated Church will hold a special congregational meeting following the worship service on June 24 to discussed parsonage renovations and any other business that may arise. The service begins at 9:30 a.m.
GREENFIELD — The Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew is hosting safety training on Sunday, June 24, from noon to 3 p.m. in the church. Everyone is invited to attend the ALICE Training for House of Worship. This training is so we all might be better informed on how to increase safety of congregants, staff, volunteers and leadership; provide accountability by documenting completed training and preparation; reduce liability by implementing and training in alignment with state and federal standards of care for violent intruder events. www.alicetraining.com.
