Swift River School and the Mahar Regional School track & field team are holding the second annual Run4Kids on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Woodward Complex at Mahar in Orange.
The event is a community event and open to anyone who is looking to run and walk for fun. The event is hosted by the Swift River School’s 100 Mile Club, and members of that club will be logging laps to complete their goals of 100 miles this school year. Attendees are encouraged to set goals for themselves such as a lap, mile or 5K.
The event will feature food vendors, a bake sale, raffle, door prizes and ultra-marathoners will be hand, including Patrick Sweeney.
The event is free and will be held rain or shine. Donations to support the 100 Mile Club will be accepted, and folks can go to Racewire.com to register or can do so on the day of the event.
Smiaroski helps Simmons
The 13th-ranked Simmons College women’s crew team’s One Varsity Eight shell was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Rowing Boat of the Week from April 4-10. The award marks the third straight week the Sharks have earned the honor.
Simmons competed in a pair of events over the weekend on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. On Saturday, Northfield native and Pioneer Valley Regional School graduate Olivia Smiaroski was the junior coxswain for the crew team that placed third in the varsity race with a time of 7:13.61, cinidhing behind second-ranked Williams College (7:01.00) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s (7:08.96).

Mark K. Memorial openings
The Mark K. Memorial Mixed Golf League is accepting new golfers for the season, which begins on Monday at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Gill.
