The Northfield Summer Road Race Series kicked off its 15th season on June 4, with Mike Townsley crossing the finish line in first place. Townley completed the 3.1 mile course in 21 minutes, 35 seconds.

William Thomas (21:58), Matt Bassett (24:07) and Alex Loud (26:29) rounded out the top four. Anna Bingham was the top (29:19) female finisher. Fourteen runners and five walkers participated.

Northfield Summer Road Race is a weekly 5K race that starts at 6:30pm from the back parking lot of 105 Main Street in Northfield that runs every Thursday, June through August. Walkers are welcome and can start early and/or take a shorter course.

Cost this year is just $5 per runner with max of $10 per family. Members of school cross country or track teams run for free. Everyone gets a prize from the award table packed with items from local businesses, farm stands and assorted sugar snacks. Registration begins at 6 p.m.; race starts at 6:30 p.m. The weekly race is part of the Northfield Recreation Commission program.

Greenfield Minor League Baseball

Aubuchon 15, Fitzgerald Real Estate 10 — Mason Lovett had four hits with a double and a triple in the win for Aubuchon on June 4. Cameron Santerre launched his first career homer for Fitzgerald. The two-run blast cleared the fence for Fitzgerald.

Gruber & Tripp 12, Baker Financial 7 The Lawyers took down Baker Financial on June 5. Sam Adams had a double and a single for Gruber & Tripp, while Tristan Ear added a triple. Roman French (2), Gavin Brazeau and Silas Dodge each had hits for the Lawyers. Paker Clough Camp had three hits for Baker, with Ronnie Ebbinghasen adding another base knock. Jack Merrill added two singles with a couple strikeouts on the mound.

New Fortune 17, Gilmore & Farrell 6 — New Fortune defeated Gilmore & Farrell in Majors play on June 4. Reed Kelley (two doubles), Sam Edson (hit), and Yusef Bensen (double) all scored three runs for New Fortune. Joseph Gardner, Blake Miner, and Adrian Lopez all hit safely for Gilmore.

Baker Financial 12, Ruggeri Real Estate 11 — Baker edged Ruggeri on June 3. Parker Clough Campagna went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for Baker. Carter Chadwick added three hits with a double.

Greenfield Girls Softball League

Triton 11, Gilmore & Farrell 3 — Layla Bailey and Sophia LaPan both had nice days at the plate in the Ponytail win on June 4. Elyse Reardon hit well for the Insurers.

Alliance 7, Perspective 7 Alliance Partners and Perspective Learning battled to a draw on June 4. Caroline Barrett led the way for Alliance going 4-for-5 with two doubles. Sydney Snape had a solid hit while Syndey Brown threw a great inning in the circle. For Perspective, Natalie Belville had three hits including a double. Theresa Barton pitched a solid inning and then drove in the game tying run. Bryleigh Carter had four RBI.

Freedom Credit Union 8, Elks 0 — The Creditors blanked the Elks on June 5. Madison Bernard pitched effectively and went 5-for-4 at the plate. Evie Abercrombie went 4-for-4 with two RBI while Hattie Bailey went 4-for-5 with an RBI. Onalee Reynolds and Beckett Crochier both played well defensively for the Elks.

Pipiones 11, Vermont Wildcats 10 Pipiones pulled off the comeback victory over the Wildcats on June 5. Adrianna Peters got the win in the circle. Lycinia Guillemette had two hits for Pipiones. Aurianna Stribley-Ortiz and Savannah Thomas both added hits for the victors.

DRIVE Hoops League

Bruso Computer Solutions 69, Rattigan and Sons 55 Malik Jones scores 21 points in the win for Bruso Computer Solutions on June 4 at Greenfield High High School. Martin Cahillane added 12 points. Amir Jones (14 points) and Malachi Roman (12 points) led the way for Rattigan and Sons.

413 Monarchs 76, Zone (6) 72 The Monarchs edged Zone 6 behind 17 points from Jake Greene. Addison Phiffer also reached double-figures for the Monarchs with 14 points. Aiden Hernandez scored 29 points for Zone 6, with Mason Meadows adding eight points.

Brattleboro 74, Futures Unlimited 58 Scott Lampron and Greg Fitzgerald both scored 18 points in the win for Brattleboro. Ben Lewis (24 points) and Tyson Dowdy (15 points) led the way for Futures Unlimited.

Co-ed

Liberty Tax Sharks 16, AGH Disposal 3 — The Sharks pounded AGH Disposal on June 5. Che Christi had a couple dingers with two RBI. Meghan Forrett had three hits with three RBI. For AGH Disposal, Brandan Eckel had two hits with a double while Yeremi Caceres added two hits with two RBI.

Posada’s Tavern 16, Tenderloins 2 (four innings) Nino Rodriguez had three triples with an RBI in the win for Posada’s on June 4. Brian Sicard added a single, a triple and a dinger. George Correa added two triples and a homer while Leah Nigro went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Nick Meyer and Hazel Kats both had two hits for the Tendies.

Country Club of Greenfield

Greenfield Elks Golf League (June 3 matches): First place Pinky/Salvador (27 points); second place: Campbell/Werme (25 points); third place: Coughlin/ Winemiller (24.5 points). Closest to Pin: Jeff Neipp on the second (three feet, eight inches) and Jamie Bozek on the fifth (10 feet).
