The Turners Falls girls swim team took its first loss of the season at the Wes Snapp Aquatic Center on Wednesday. The Thunder fell to the visiting Easthampton, 51-43, in a Constitution league match up.
“We had a tough loss on the girls side,” Turners Falls coach Abby Heathwaite said. “They fought so hard.”
Turners Falls (3-1, 3-1 Constitution) got a victory from Alice Fortin in the 50 freestyle (28.94). Fortin hopes for 26 seconds this season.
“I am close,” Fortin said. “I think I need a little more competition. I feel like I am lacking. But today’s meet pushed me more. It felt better.”
Avery Houle took first in the 100 backstroke (1:29.19) in an exhilarating finish. Lillian Walker-Hanning cruised to a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.03).

“This year hasn’t been the best for me but that’s okay,” Walker-Hanning said. “It’s a combination of senior year stress and all of that impacting my sports.”
The Turners Falls boys swam against themselves, scoring 71 points, as Easthampton does not have a boys team.
