WHATELY — The Historical Society will host a talk Thursday by former town Animal Inspector Jim LaSalle on his experiences, providing “a window into life in Whately in the mid-20th century.”

“Jim’s stories are always worth listening to,” said society member Judy Markland. “It will be amusing, but also a vignette into (historical) life in Whately.”

Markland said when LaSalle was inspector, all animals in town had to be accounted for and showed up on the town’s census.

The talk is free, starting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Town Hall. Refreshments will be provided.
