Meghan Davis finished in the top five of three events and Mohawk Trail Regional High School opened the 2016 Indoor Track season with three wins Friday afternoon at Smith College in Northampton.

Mohawk competed in the evening session and defeated Greenfield High School (86-8), Mahar Regional School (56-39), and High School of Commerce (76-18)

Davis won the 2-mile for the Warriors in 11 minutes, 56.4 seconds, finished third in the mile in 5:48.74, and was fifth in the 1,000 meter in 3:31.61. Lily Wickland-Shearer finished sixth in the 55 meter hurdles in 10.48, Gabby Shean was ninth in the shot put (24-8½), and Olivia Parent took 10th in the 600 in 2:00.75.

Greenfield wound up 0-3 on the day, also dropping a 78-15 decision to Pope Francis High School and a 66-14 decision to Ludlow High School, but Amy O’Sullivan had a nice day with a fourth-place time of 12:28.89 in the 2-mile, and a sixth-place time of 3:32.14 in the 1,000. Teammate Jamie Day was eighth in the 2-mile in 13:12.91.

Mahar earned a split on the day with a 74-20 win over Commerce. Kamryn Reilly was sixth in the high jump (4-5), seventh in the 55 meter dash (8.14), and eighth in the long jump (14-2). Emma Currier had a pair of top 10 finishes in the day, placing 10th in both the 1,000 (3:45.14) and the 2-mile (13:31.63). Anna Wetherbee was sixth in the 600 (1:54.49), Marie Nottleson was seventh in the 55 hurdles (10.53), and Emma Savoy was 11th in the 1,000 (3:47.05).

Athol High School competed in the early session on Friday and suffered losses to South Hadley High School (86-9) and West Springfield High School (78-17). Shelby Mailloux had the top finish on the day for the Red Raiders with her eighth-place overall time of 3:39.32 in the 1,000 meter.

• On the boys’ side, Mahar got off to a solid start to the season with wins over Mohawk (50-45) and Commerce (64-31). The Senators had a huge day in the shot put with three boys finishing in the top 10 overall, including John Nye, who was third in the event at 37-5½. Sean Doyle was seventh overall in 33-11¾, and Lucas Seney was 10th at 33-1¼. Hugo Frost had a pair of top 10 finishes on the day, taking seventh in the 55 hurdles (9.48), and 10th in the 300 (40.39). Aaron Hendry also had a nice day for Mahar with a fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.14) and sixth in the 600 (1:34.22). Ash Shaw placed fifth overall in the 300 (39.51), and Hunter Apteker took sixth in the 55 hurdles (9.46). Sebastian Shaw was eighth in the 2-mile (11:38.07), and Seth Mitchell was eighth in the high jump (5-3).

Mohawk wound up 2-1 on the day with victories over Greenfield (61-29) and Commerce (56-37). Seth Hoynoski had a nice day for the Warriors, taking fourth in both the 55 hurdles (8.94) and the 600 (1:32.04). Zach Coburn had three top 10s, placing fifth in the 2-mile (11:10.75), seventh in the mile (5:14.04), and ninth in the long jump (18-4). Ben White picked up two top 10s as he took sixth in the 300 (39.63) and 10th in the 55 dash (7.25). Zachary Goodell was eighth in the shot put (33-11).

Greenfield finished 1-2 on the day as it defeated Ludlow (46-39) but fell to Pope Francis 62-33). David Giurgiu came in sixth in the long jump (18-11), and Mike Aras was sixth in the high jump (5-3). Liam McLain was eighth in the 55 (7.21), and Dylan Badillo was ninth in the 2-mile (11:39.51).

Athol suffered a pair of losses in the early session, falling to South Hadley (62-33) and West Springfield (80-15). Mason Barrieau won the 600 meter outright in 1:29.47. He also placed fourth in the 55 hurdles (8.93), and sixth in the long jump (18-5). Kris Selanis was second overall in the shot put in 39-7½, and Rowan Anderson was 12th in the event at 33-8¼.
