GREENFIELD — The Greenfield School Committee will hold a public hearing tonight on the school department’s proposed $18.1 million budget for next year.
The hearing is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Greenfield Community Television studios at 393 Main Street.
The budget, as currently proposed by Superintendent Jordana Harper, represents a 3.4 percent increase over the current year, and would rely on $3.4 million in alternative funding sources.
In its current form, the budget does not include any staff cuts, but would create a variety of new positions in many of the schools or increase the hours of others.
Those new items reflect about half of what was originally requested by department heads and principals.
