I find it hard to believe that the justice system that is supposed to be helping those with problems would be so full of self-righteous intolerant individuals. Isn’t it funny that people who are supposed to make the decisions within the court system, judges, get to decide things based on their own feelings and not the law?
Recently someone I knew needed a Section 35. However, for this to happen, it needs to go before a judge and they need to order it. Wouldn’t you know that, due to a personal opinion of an individual, help wasn’t given. Doctors weren’t listening to, family members and their concerns for their loved one be damned. I don’t know how people are supposed to get help when their insurance won’t cover anything longer than five to six days in a treatment center; the court’s won’t do what they can to help (“we’ll just let the issue keep going so we can fill the jails with drug users and those with mental health problems instead of the dangerous criminals.” Great idea, not); and everyone is talking about how we have such an issue with drug users and how they need to be helped, but no one is doing anything other than talking.
You hear all about how there are all kinds of overdoses and how addiction centers are popping up, but no one seems to want to help families when they have nowhere else to turn. Does anyone even know what addiction does to the family? Instead of helping the individual (which will help the family), the user just gets put in jail, all because of one person’s opinion and twisted use of justice.
Let’s not forget that addiction isn’t just a physical problem, it’s a mental health one.
