It amazes me that there are still people that think the way Kathe Geist does about leaving their pets in a hot car. I guess it shouldn’t. Some people still think smoking doesn’t cause cancer.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), hundreds of pets die needlessly every year because they were left unattended in a hot car. An independent study by the American Academy of Pediatrics found the inside temperature of a parked car, even with a 70-degree outside temperature, can raise to 115 in less than an hour. And parking in the shade or cracking the windows has little effect. On an 80-degree day, your dog could get heatstroke in less than 20 minutes.
If you love your dogs, leave them home.
