I am extremely disappointed and frankly disgusted by the fact that the health and safety of our city’s citizens and the many guests who come here to take advantage of the many goods and services we have to offer, will not be able to rest easy in the knowledge that those goods and services are safe.
As ensuring the health and safety of everyone is one of the many functions of government, a city of our size should have a robust health department, with multiple inspectors. I think it is time that certain members of our City Council take a hard look at their obstructionism, voting down the health department funding does nothing more than place the health of this city and the surrounding area in danger.
