WARWICK — No one has taken nomination papers yet for the Selectboard position vacated by Dawn Magi, according to Town Clerk Rosa Fratangelo.

The papers have been available since the third week of July, when the Selectboard formally notified Fratangelo that a special election would be held to fill the position. The term ends May 20, when Magi’s term would have ended.

“It’s a short amount of time, but it’s best practice to have three people on (the Selectboard, which normally has three members) if at all possible,” Fratangelo said.

Magi resigned from the Selectboard the first week of July, citing personal disagreements with the other two board members, Doc Pruyne and Jim Erviti. The board has been operating with only two members since.

“I hope we can find a candidate to come forward and run for the position,” Pruyne said at the time.

Magi was elected to the Selectboard in 2010, having previously served on the Finance Committee for five years. She has attended multiple Selectboard meetings as a resident since her resignation, but said she has not yet decided whether she will be involved in town government in the future.

Nomination papers will be available at the town clerk’s office until 5 p.m. on Sept. 14. The last day to submit the papers is Sept. 18. Nomination requires 20 signatures from eligible Warwick voters.

After the signatures have been verified, Fratangelo said, she will publicize the names of the candidates.

The special election will be held Nov. 6, the same day as the general election.

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 17.
