Nine local potters are opening their studios and kilns to the public for the 12th annual Hilltown 6 Pottery Tour & Sale on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free tour has earned national recognition as one of the top contemporary craft events in the Northeast, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond. This year’s tour — featuring stops in eight hilltowns, including Ashfield in Franklin County — celebrates a diversity of ceramic expression, showing everything from functional mugs to sculptural objects in an array of varied clays, colors, surfaces and forms.

Educational demonstrations and talks will be held at each venue. Learn how a kiln is fired, watch a master potter turn a formless hunk of clay into a beautiful pot, and taste a snack made from locally grown ingredients served on a handmade plate.
