The annual Hampshire-Franklin Board 28 All-Star Basketball Games were played Friday night at Smith Academy in Hatfield, where East drilled West, 131-103, in the boys’ game and the West nipped the East, 69-68, in the girls’ game.

Most Outstanding Player (MOP) awards were given to a player from each team, and all proceeds went to the William Casey Scholarship fund reserved for Hampshire-Franklin high school athletes.

The boys’ east winner was led by MOP Justin Ciaglo, the Hopkins Academy star who tossed in 18 points. Teammates Kyle Murray of Amherst Regional High School and Ryan Sheehan of Granby threw in 17 apiece.

The West MOP was South Hadley High School’s Calvin Bridges, who scored a game-high 34 points. Northampton High School’s Andy Grygorcewicz and Hampshire Regional School’s David Helems added 16 and 13.

Greenfield High School’s Lizzy Howland (6 points) threw in the game-winning free-throw for the victorious West girls’ team. MOP teammate Emma Tanner and her Northampton High School teammate Bailey Mauer added 19 and 18 to the winning cause.

The East was led by MOP Mikhaila Edge, who poured in 15 points. Sister Abby Edge and Mallory Beauregard of Granby High School contributed 8 each.
